By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on July 2, 2011

An Akron, Ohio couple had pored over wedding plans for months, and as their wedding day neared, the father of the bride wanted to help them out by bidding on a wedding limo package that he thought he had won. Tom Scovell, father of the bride, placed a bid on a wedding limo package offered as a promotional contest by a local radio station. He placed a $1,000 bid on the radio station’s auction and was surprised and delighted to learn that he had won the auction for just $335. He contacted the limo service a few days later and made the reservations for his daughter’s June 18 wedding.

Mini Cooper Limo Features Whirlpool

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 14, 2011

Occasionally, we like to write about custom limos that feature improbable combinations of amenities. In the past, we have talked about limos built from scraps from other limos, a custom limousine made from an airplane fuselage, custom limos with wild color schemes and many other unlikely or remarkable limousines. The custom limousine for this blog post is equally unusual and unlikely: a Mini Cooper limo that features a two-person whirlpool in the back. This custom limo transcends two unlikely limo categories. For one, it’s a limousine made from one of the smallest passenger automobiles in the world. Secondly, it features a whirlpool within a space that is best described as “cozy” for one person, much less two. Still, this custom limo is so odd that we had to write about it as we often have unusual features in some of the San Francisco limousines in our fleet.

Honor Students Treated to Limousine Ride

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 11, 2011

Five honor students from an elementary school in Michigan were rewarded for their diligence and scholastic achievement recently with a limousine ride complete with a stop for lunch. The five kids attend Village Oaks Elementary School in Novi, Michigan, and their hard work earned them two hours off from school, a trip to McDonald’s, the pinnacle of culinary rewards for any elementary school kid, and over two hours riding around in the back of a Hummer limousine. We like writing about these types of stories because school kids who excel in sports get all kinds of perks and accolades for their athletic prowess, and we feel that academic athletes should be rewarded as well! If you know of a deserving group of Bay Area kids who have worked hard all year and earned outstanding grades, reward them with a San Francisco limousine from us to reinforce positive behavior!

Obama Presidential Motorcade Pays London Congestion Charge Like Everyone Else

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 7, 2011

Yet another presidential limousine story in the news this month! The city of London, England took a radical step some years ago to combat traffic congestion that paralyzed traffic throughout the city: it began imposing a congestion charge on all vehicles entering the city, and the plan has mostly worked. Traffic in the city is down overall, and people living there can get around with much greater ease since the plan was enacted. As President Obama found out recently, no one is exempt from paying the charge to enter the city, not even presidential motorcades. Each limousine in the President’s fleet was ordered to pay the charge, but administration officials refused, saying that diplomats should be excused from paying the charges.

Arsonist on Trial Demands Limo Ride for Witnesses

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 5, 2011

A Detroit, Michigan man facing arson charges in connection with a fire that injured seven Detroit firefighters has demanded that the government pay for a limousine service to transport ten witnesses to his trail in Ann Arbor. Calvin Jones, a self-employed auto mechanic, is scheduled to stand trial on June 28 for his alleged role in helping to set a fire that gutted a department store and led to injuries that paralyzed one firefighter and seriously injured six more. Jones claims that the witnesses are poor and don’t own their own transportation, making it very difficult for them to attend the trial. He claims that the witnesses are crucially important for his defense and that renting a limo for them is the most cost-effective way to transport them to his trial.

Use of Limousines Up Sharply During Obama Administration

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 2, 2011

According to the latest figures from the General Services Administration (GSA), the number of limousines bought and used by the Obama administration is up sharply over the last couple of years. The GSA found that there were 412 limousines used by various administration officials in 2010, which is up from 238 used in 2008, a 73 percent rise. Administration officials say the increase is due to security concerns, but in an unusual twist, the GSA admits that its limo statistics may be suspect as it uses the term “limo” to refer to a number of different vehicles and uses.

Rolls-Royce Launches New Program for Pre-Owned Rolls Luxury Automobiles

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on May 24, 2011

After struggling to find a way to entice buyers of pre-owned Rolls-Royce automobiles and address their concerns about each vehicle’s provenance, the venerable luxury carmaker has finally found a solution. To certify ownership and allay the fears of prospective buyers, Rolls has set up a program called, fittingly, Provenance that will provide quality control and extended warranty coverage for most models. The company had deliberately avoided meddling in the secondary Rolls-Royce market out of concern about the negative connotations of the terms “pre-owned” or “used car.” However, after reviewing the idea and hearing from customers, they reconsidered their position and now call Provenance their “approved programme for pre-owned cars.”
