Everyone has someone like this on his or her list each year, and agonizing over what to get him or her can suck the joy right out of the Season of Joy. However, we believe that we have the perfect solution! Rent a Bay Area limo, and give them a gift they will never forget. Here are just a few reasons why a limo rental is a great gift idea:

  • Limo rentals are more affordable than you think they are
The San Francisco limousine market is very competitive, which is good, as it keeps rental rates low. You can browse the pages of our site for current rate information, and, if you choose an off-peak day or night for the rental, you may be able to take advantage of our specials.
  • They go well with concert or sporting event tickets
Adding concert or sporting event tickets to the limo experience is a great way to sweeten an already very nice gift.
  • They are great gifts for your best clients
Many of our clients who buy limo rentals as gifts each year are businesspeople who give limousine experiences to their best clients. If you’re looking for a new way to impress a big account, give us a call at 800-339-8936 and let us take care of the rest!
  • This is one gift they definitely won’t return
The day after Christmas is when people return ugly sweaters, unneeded foot massagers, unwanted kitchen appliances and many other gifts that they simply don’t want. If you give a San Francisco limo rental, you can be sure that this is one gift that won’t be returned or re-gifted.

If you have one or more persons on your list that make the season of giving into the season of dreading, we believe that we have a solution to that problem. Call us at NLS Limo today at 800-339-8936 to make a San Francisco limousine reservation for them instead! If you have any questions or want to customize a limo experience, just let us know. We’ll be happy to help!

Pop Star Calls Limousines Embarrassing

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on October 1, 2012

If Australian pop star Kylie Minogue heads to the Bay Area for a concert, don’t look for any San Francisco limousines to pick her up at the airport. The 44-year-old singer recently told reporters that she gets embarrassed when a limo arrives to pick her up. She claims that she prefers a simpler, low profile life these days and is quite happy to live without some of the more ostentatious trappings of being an international recording star.

“I’m like, ‘Please don’t send a limousine! I find them embarrassing!’ I love to have this glamorous life sometimes, and if I didn’t have any of that, I would probably be dressing up a bit more each day or going out on the weekend and making a real effort. But I get to live out those fantasies on stage, in videos or photo shoots. But if I can go somewhere you can wear wellingtons – and just be a total and utter bush person – I need that,” she said recently.

Perhaps Ms. Minogue is a bit jaded after many years of limo transportation to and from nearly all destinations. She’s certainly entitled to her opinion, but her complaints ring a bit hollow to most people who only get to ride in limousines during special occasions. We freely admit that our opinion on this matter is anything but impartial. We still enjoy helping our guests celebrate significant events in their lives, such as these:

If you’re planning a special event and would like to add a Bay Area limo rental to the occasion, you have come to the right place! Each limousine, party van, SUV limo, classic car, limo bus and other luxury transportation option in our fleet is clean, very comfortable and more affordable than you may think! And unlike other Bay Area limousine services, we don’t nickel-and-dime our guests with a la carte charges. We prefer to include as many amenities as possible for one low price. So, the next time you need a San Francisco limo, just give us a call at NLS Limo at 800-339-8936. Who knows? Maybe you want your limo rental for an upcoming Kylie Minogue concert!

New Experimental Limo Could Be a Glimpse of Future Luxury Transportation

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on December 14, 2011

A new kind of limousine recently made its debut in the Netherlands and created quite a stir for its looks, composition, low carbon footprint and luxury amenities. The new limo more closely resembles a centipede than a luxury limousine and features 16 gullwing doors that add to its unusual appearance when opened. Developed jointly by the University of Technology of Delft and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, the as-yet unnamed limo is the product of a design team that wanted to create an environmentally responsible but luxurious mode of transportation for large groups of people.

The new limousine features most of the amenities you would expect in luxury ground transportation, such as HD televisions, climate control, internet connectivity, premium audio system, room for up to 23 passengers and other creature comforts. Among the many remarkable features of this new limo are the facts that it is an electric vehicle with zero carbon dioxide emissions, yet it has a top speed of 155 mph. It features an ultra-light but very strong carbon fiber frame that supports its nearly 50-foot length, and the Lexan composite windows that comprise most of each gullwing door are also strong but quite light.

Prominent members of the new limo’s design team include the first Dutchman in space, Dr. Wubbo Ockels, an Italian designer with a Formula One racing background, Dr. Antonio Terzi, and a Dutch aerospace engineer named Joris Melkert. The production team has not yet announced whether or not they plan to produce more of these next-generation limousines, but they hinted that we might see more on the road, at least in Europe, in 2015.

Regular readers of our blog know that we are always on the lookout for the new and unusual in the luxury ground transportation world, and love to pass along information about these automotive oddities whenever we can. It might be a while before we offer a zero-emission limousine in our fleet of San Francisco limos, but we like to offer as much variety as possible to our guests! To get an idea of the Bay Area limousines we currently offer in our fleet, please browse the pages of our site, and call us at 1-800-339-8936 for more information. If you need a San Francisco limousine or party bus for an upcoming event, please give us a call at NLS Limo for rates and availability.

Limousine Inspector Taken for a Dangerous Ride in Illegal Limo

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on July 11, 2011

A chauffer of an illegal limo in Brooklyn, New York gave a Limousine Commission inspector the ride of his life recently after getting caught in an illegal limo sting operation. Shortly after hailing an illegal fare, limo driver Abdourahamane Barry, 37, learned that his fare was actually an undercover inspector for New York’s Taxi and Limousine Commission. The inspector had just negotiated a $15 fare for a relatively short trip and climbed into the back of the limo when he announced the bust and told his driver he was going to get a ticket. Instead of accepting the fine, the chauffeur tried to speed away from the TLC inspector who had been standing with a group of other inspectors as part of their sting operation.

California Girl Receives Limo Ride and Quinceañera She Will Never Forget

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on July 5, 2011

A 15-year-old California girl who has struggled with life-threatening health problems for the last three years got a limo ride and a quinceañera she and her family will never forget thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Berenice Jasso is a young lady from Escalon, California and the daughter of farm workers who thought they might lose their daughter due to kidney problems that confounded doctors. Shortly before she turned 14, her parents learned that Berenice’s kidneys were failing, and doctors could not identify the reason. Within a year of the diagnosis, both of her kidneys were removed, and Berenice lived for four months with frequent trips to a dialysis clinic to stay alive while they waited for a kidney to become available.

Use of Limousines Up Sharply During Obama Administration

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 2, 2011

According to the latest figures from the General Services Administration (GSA), the number of limousines bought and used by the Obama administration is up sharply over the last couple of years. The GSA found that there were 412 limousines used by various administration officials in 2010, which is up from 238 used in 2008, a 73 percent rise. Administration officials say the increase is due to security concerns, but in an unusual twist, the GSA admits that its limo statistics may be suspect as it uses the term “limo” to refer to a number of different vehicles and uses.

9-Year-Old Sets Sights on Renting a Limo for Kids in Shelter

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on January 5, 2011

A story out of Iowa caught our eye recently. A nine-year-old Southeast Iowa girl named Presley Poor, who has created and administrated fundraisers for local kids and families living in a local emergency shelter, has put her next plan in motion. She’s going to raise funds to rent a limousine and take the kids staying at a local shelter for a day at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. Ms Poor’s most recent fundraising success involved sponsoring a pizza party for 40 kids staying with their mothers at Lydia House, an emergency shelter in Omaha. Through sheer force of will and an uncommonly generous spirit, she singlehandedly raised $300 to make this pizza party happen.

Rental Rates for California Limousine Companies

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on November 25, 2010

Every limousine service in our state is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which issues licenses, investigates complaints and levies fines and civil actions against unlicensed companies. The CPUC mandates that limo companies must base their rates on time of use or vehicle mileage. It cannot be both, and limo services are expressly forbidden to charge on a per passenger basis. The only exceptions to the per passenger rule are the following:
