Bay Area Limo Rentals | San Francisco Travel Blog
With the indoor mask mandates recently lifted here in the greater Bay Area, many San Francisco citizens and vacationers are looking forward to an enjoyable night on the town and spending a little quality time at their favorite local establishments and eateries.
Brush off those coronavirus blues with a Bay Area sightseeing tour from Nationwide Limousine Service! For months on end, many San Francisco residents have been stuck inside their homes due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Life as we knew it came to a screeching halt back in early March and many celebrations were temporarily put on hold as cities across the country closed down in order to keep their citizens safe. And even though we’re still dealing with this deadly disease, it doesn’t mean that we should cancel our anniversaries, birthdays, and other small celebrations of life that many people so desperately need right now. Here at NLS Limo, we’ve put together an exciting list of getaways that are guaranteed to put a smile on that special someone’s face while staying safe at the same time.
Michael Lindsay is the CEO of RateButler.com and has launched a new website to help operators (the industry term for limousine services) receive timely feedback from their clients. According to Mr. Lindsay, his new site, LimoSurvey.com, will help limousine services in San Francisco and throughout the rest of the country to get client feedback in real time to help them improve customer service and retain customers by building better relationships with their clients.
It’s been a rough couple of months for San Francisco software company Uber, the company that built a smartphone application that allows users to arrange and pay for taxi and limo rides with their phones. This month, the company’s attempt to add New York taxi service in addition to its limo services was swatted down by that city’s Taxi and Limousine Commission. Uber was also recently sued by taxi and limousine services in Chicago for “violating numerous local and state laws regarding public safety, consumer protection, and fair practices.”
Some say that Uber’s problems can be traced to the brash tactics and harsh criticism of city regulations of its CEO Travis Kalanick. Many cities have taken issue with Mr. Kalanick’s outspoken contempt “of any regulation (of his industry) in general,” saying that they are in a much better position to dictate policy in their cities than he is.
The lawsuit filed recently in the Northern District of Illinois claims that Uber’s pricing policies are predatory, especially the 20 percent gratuity surcharge for its e-hail and payment service. Uber has announced that they plan to implement a similar surcharge for New York customers. The suit alleges that while customers are charged 20 percent for a gratuity, only half of that money goes to the driver, with the other half going to Uber. The suit also claims that the company charges more than the established rate for taxi meters and charges customers for credit card processing costs, a violation of Chicago ordinances.
The suit also claims that Uber’s actions are unlawful, as they arrange fares without the knowledge or consent of taxi and limousine companies. The complaint states that the smartphone application gives users the “false impression” that it is in association with transportation providers. It says that this false impression gives Uber “the aura of legitimacy,” with the public while avoiding “the costs and time necessitated by compliance with the laws and regulations.”
As you might guess, we have our own perspective on this application. We feel that there is a far simpler method of arranging limousine rides, at least in the Bay Area, that doesn’t require a smartphone app or a smartphone. People who need to rent a San Francisco limo for an upcoming event can use any kind of phone to call us at 800-339-8936 and speak with one of our reservation specialists. A smartphone app may be slick and fast, but it can’t answer questions, greet you warmly, help you decide which Bay Area limo rental is best for you and your group or help you in many other aspects. If you prefer genuine customer service over cutting-edge technology, call us at NLS Limo today, and let us help you choose the San Francisco limousine that will be perfect for your special occasion!
A chauffeur for a limo service in Vancouver, British Columbia, is facing charges of driving under the influence after he called police in Vernon, B.C., to remove several passengers who became unruly after having too much to drink. A spokesman from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported that the chauffeur was transporting 18 people in the back of his limousine recently when he stopped to call the police. When the officers arrived, they noticed that the man smelled strongly of alcohol and administered field sobriety tests to confirm their suspicions. The chauffeur failed the tests and now will likely have to find another type of employment in addition to the criminal charges.
This story describes a common problem in the limousine industry but, thankfully, a very uncommon problem for our San Francisco limousine service. We want our guests to have a wonderful time while they enjoy riding in our limos, party buses, SUV limousines and other kinds of luxury ground transportation, and we go to great lengths to ensure that they do. Frequently, our guests who are of legal drinking age enjoy alcoholic beverages that we provide or those that they have brought for themselves. As long as our modest rules for behavior are observed and no one’s safety is endangered, everything proceeds smoothly, and we accomplish our primary goal of helping our guests safely have a great time.
Occasionally, when guests have had a little too much to drink and violate our safety rules, a chauffeur warns them once, and, in most cases, the day or evening proceeds without incident. On rare occasions where one or more guests disregard their chauffeur’s warning and continue to endanger themselves and the other guests, the chauffeur terminates the rental and returns the guests to their point of departure.
Thankfully, we have never had an incident where one of our chauffeurs was charged with driving while under the influence of anything. Our drivers face a rigorous screening process before they are hired, and we ensure that they are properly dressed, rested and sober before they transport any of our guests.
We take the safety of all of our guests very seriously and go to great lengths to ensure that everyone has a safe, fun and memorable limo experience. We believe that this has been a key factor in our success as a Bay Area limousine service, and we have no plans to change our policies. If you would like to rent a San Francisco stretch limo, party bus, SUV limousine or any of our other luxury vehicles for an upcoming event and want to make sure that everyone has a safe and wonderful time, call us at NLS Limo today at 800-339-8936. You bring the guests, and we’ll provide the safe, fun and luxurious vehicles and professional chauffeur!
We have written about President Obama’s new limousine in previous posts, but some new information about this very customized limo has come to light recently, and we thought our readers might appreciate a bit more information about what is affectionately known as “The Beast.” Unlike our San Francisco limos, the presidential limo is built to withstand a bomb blast and chemical attack, is bullet-proof (naturally), features a mobile office in the rear and is powered by a very thirsty 6.6-liter engine. How thirsty is The Beast? Gas mileage is estimated at slightly under eight miles to the gallon, or around seven times thirstier than a Toyota Prius.
During the planning phase of the new presidential limo, Mr. Obama had requested that the limo be a hybrid. However, the logistics of creating a hybrid limo complete with armored plate panels up to eight inches thick on the doors proved too problematic, and the President had to make a concession. During an early meeting about the limo, President Obama said, “I asked can we make these cars hybrids. Secret Service said no. Now the reason is not because Secret Service are bad guys. It’s because these cars that I’m in are like tanks.”
In addition to the armored plate, the limo also features a mixture of protective materials including high-strength steel, aluminum, ceramics, titanium and other materials that remain classified. There is an oxygen system, fire-fighting equipment, bulletproof tires, night vision cameras and other security equipment the Secret Service is loath to disclose. For weaponry, details are still sketchy, but we did learn that the limo features at least one tear gas cannon and shotguns strategically stashed in the door panels. The limo also contains an indeterminate amount of the President’s own blood in case a transfusion becomes necessary.
The Beast is a truly remarkable limousine, and we are ever on the lookout for more information about the President’s ride. If you’re looking for a fun and affordable San Francisco limo experience, we have good news for you! You don’t have to be the President to enjoy first-class service and accommodations. Simply call us at NLS Limo today at 1-800-339-8936 to make a reservation! Our Bay Area limousine may not feature any armaments, but they do feature wet bars and many other luxury amenities. Call us today to learn more about our affordable rates and your rental options.
A Chauffeur transporting 20 unruly guests in a Hummer limo in Seattle kicked all his guests out of the vehicle and left them on the side of the road after a fight broke out in the limo. The guests had been drinking heavily, and the chauffeur had asked them repeatedly to behave when some guests began fighting. The chauffeur then ordered his guests out of the limousine and drove away. State troopers arrived soon after and found the inebriated guests gathered by the side of the street with one man bleeding profusely. The troopers began interviewing the stranded guests and rendered assistance to the injured man.
An eighth-grader at Horn Lake Middle School in Memphis, Tennessee out-read, out-learned and now will get to out-relax more than 300 of her classmates for winning her school’s Horn Lake Library Teen Limo contest. Jackie Hernandez earned her limo ride by completing her library’s Summer Reading Program, and she, as well as five of her friends, will arrive to the first day of school this fall in her limousine. The young lady is quite excited by her award and has no plans to stop reading even though the contest is over.

A chauffer of an illegal limo in Brooklyn, New York gave a Limousine Commission inspector the ride of his life recently after getting caught in an illegal limo sting operation. Shortly after hailing an illegal fare, limo driver Abdourahamane Barry, 37, learned that his fare was actually an undercover inspector for New York’s Taxi and Limousine Commission. The inspector had just negotiated a $15 fare for a relatively short trip and climbed into the back of the limo when he announced the bust and told his driver he was going to get a ticket. Instead of accepting the fine, the chauffeur tried to speed away from the TLC inspector who had been standing with a group of other inspectors as part of their sting operation.
