San Francisco may be one of the best places on the face of the earth to experience craft culture. As a crossroads for a wealth of different cultures as well a perpetual home for the artistic vanguard the Bay Area holds a unique place in American history and art history. All of this comes out in the craft culture that has sprung up around the city. This summer, there will be many opportunities to experience this culture, but one of the best is undoubtedly the KPFA Summer Crafts Fair.

As has often been noted on this blog (and, of course, elsewhere), San Francisco is one of the country’s top spots for film lovers, film makers, and film workers. Every year, dozens of film festivals pass through the city, from the major international film festivals to documentary film festivals, and everything in between. Another film festival that occurs in our beautiful city is the Queer Women of Color Film Festival. This year, from June 10th to 12th, marks the 12th consecutive season for the QWOCFF, and, like each of the years before, the lineup is killer.

This year, for the first time in the team’s history, the San Jose Sharks will be competing for the Stanley Cup. Throughout the playoffs, they managed to topple the Kings, the Predators, and the Blues from their respective towers, and now it the Sharks standing alone as they prepare to go head to head against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the end of this month.
2016 San Francisco International Arts Festival
The San Francisco International Arts Festival is one of the most highly lauded and anticipated events of its kind anywhere in the country. This year, events kicked off on May 19th, and they will continue to occur until June 5th at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture as well as other locations throughout the city. As this is an international art show, contributing artists come from all over the world, representing countries like France, Japan, Lithuania, Serbia, Taiwan, and Columbia. The artist’s exhibits will be displayed in various fashions, from dance to sculpture to film, which ensures that everyone can find something to fascinate and entertain them during their stay in the Bay Area.
