Whale Watching at the Farallon Islands
Twenty-seven miles west of San Francisco lies the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary – one of the world’s most unique ecosystems teeming with diverse marine life. While the rocky islands themselves are somewhat mysterious (closed to the public and inhabited only by scientists and researchers from Point Blue Conservation Science and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service), there are several tour and charter vessels that travel out to these islands nearly everyday year round for one very exciting purpose – to view a wide array of wildlife and most importantly, spot a breaching whale.

Giants FanFest
Whether you live in the Bay Area, you’re an MLB fan, or both, you know which California team has won eight World Series titles and 23 National League pennants: the San Francisco Giants. Perhaps you even have a favorite retired-number ball player, such as Monte Irving, Willie Mays, or Bill Terry. No matter which Giants player most warms your heart, sport the black, orange, and cream, and don’t miss FanFest!
Snoop Dogg at the Regency Ballroom
Nicknamed Snoop by his mother for his appearance, Calvin Broadus Jr. was raised in Long Beach, California, where he frequently ran into trouble with the law. Not long after high school graduation, he was arrested, beginning a three-year period where he was frequently imprisoned. Able to find an escape from a life of crime through music, Snoop Dogg was introduced to the world in 1992 when he was prominently featured on Dr. Dre’s album “The Chronic.” Snoop quickly became one of the most famous stars in rap, partially because of his signature drawled rhyming style, and partially because his lyrics seemed to imply "realness" due to his troubled history. His much anticipated solo album “Doggystyle” was released in 1993 and was an instant success.

Let’s be honest, for some of us the things we look forward to most as the Super Bowl approaches are the tasty finger foods and the half-time performance. And if you’re really not into football, you might be wishing that something was open on Super Bowl Sunday where you could just have the day to yourself for some R&R.
Super Bowl City 2016

The San Francisco-based host committee promises to make the annual Super Bowl City “loud, proud, inclusive and authentic, just like the Bay Area itself.” Super Bowl City is annually presented in the week prior to the big event, and is the host committee’s free-to-the-public fan village designed to celebrate and highlight its unique place in the host city. Open January 30th – February 7th this year, the interactive theme park experience will be the hub of fan energy and excitement leading up to game day at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
