Silicon Valley’s 7th Annual Beer Week 2019
When most people think of Silicon Valley, they picture in their minds people riding around on Segways wearing Google Glasses and drinking Soylent. We aren’t here to dispute that image. But, it might be worthwhile to expand the definition somewhat, at least if you are a lover of great beer. Why? Because for seven years Silicon Valley has hosted one of the best craft beer week events in or around the Bay Area and if you haven’t made it down at any point during the last six years then now is the time to get going!
Third Annual Botanicals and Brews Returns to San Francisco
In San Francisco, it is almost impossible to avoid the overwhelming number of amazing breweries that lie scattered about the transformed city. In a similar manner, it is almost impossible to find yourself left with a weekend that can’t be spent wandering through some beer-themed festival or other that has taken over one of the Bay Area’s numerous picturesque streets. If, however, you woke up this morning and wondered just what you’re going to do on the third Friday of July, August, September, October, and if you also have a hankering to drink your beer while spending some quality time among beautiful flowers, then boy do we have a treat for you today.
Ease Into the Weekend at Presidio Twilights 2019
For six straight years, the famed Presidio has taken advantage of the warmer summer weather, the longer summer days, and the beautiful summer sunsets to launch their series Presidio Twilight. Taking place on Thursday evenings from the 23rd of May until the early days of September – with only July 4th as an exception – the Presidio Twilight is a chance to gather with family and friends around San Francisco’s biggest public campfire as the day draws to a close.
Celebrate Workers at the 26th Annual SF LaborFest
If you’ve spent any amount of time on this blog, then you know we’ve written about music festivals. We’ve also written about dance festivals, film festivals, comedy festivals, playwriting festivals, and cultural festivals, pride festivals, and craft festivals. Is it possible, you might be asking yourself, is it possible that there are no more festivals to discuss?
Indulge in Theater at the 42nd Annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival
A performance art as old as recorded history, theatrical performance never ceases to attract spectators as well as incredibly talented individuals to do the actual, you know, perfuming. While the content of the plays chances over time, and while things such as costumes, acting styles, and narrative forms also mutate and transform across the years, one thing remains constant: the chance to sit in a room and watch people unfold before us a story as though we weren’t even there.
Root, Root, Root for the Home Team: Catch the Giants and A’s in the Bay Area This Summer
Want to know our favorite thing about baseball? The seasons last so dang long! All the way from early spring to mid-fall, those players are running around their diamonds, hitting home runs, and making amazing double plays. It makes the heart ache just to think about all the baseball happening right now. Which is why we want to take today to highlight the already well-known fact that the Bay Area has not one but TWO amazing baseball teams. Between the two of them, there are enough home games happening in and around San Francisco to practically make it so that you never need to leave a ballpark.
Outside Lands, One of the Biggest Music Festivals in the Country, Returns to SF
These days, it can seem as though the amount of bands considered to be “necessary listening” is borderline incomprehensible. Especially if one is a fan of going and seeing the acts live, how is it possible to make it to all of the shows featuring beloved acts? Lack of time, money, and energy begin to take their toll, and soon we find ourselves wondering if it is even worth trying to go see live music anymore. Better to just stay home, make a pot of tea, and put some Keith Jarrett on the turntable. While we certainly understand this decision, we also know that for many of you it is not this easy. Which is why God invented the music festival.
Fourth of July Activities: Fisherman’s Wharf
You are probably aware that the 4th of July is fast approaching. If you aren’t, you most certainly should be! And if you find yourself inside of the Bay Area during the event, then you will have more celebratory opportunities than you can shake a Golden Gate Bridge at. Today on our little blog we want to give you some idea of the many great offerings taking place in and around the Bay Area during the 4th, although it is ultimately up to you what you decide to do with your time.
So Many Marvelous Makers: Renegade Craft Fair Returns to San Francisco
Residents of San Francisco will tell you that the art, craft, and maker scene within this city is extraordinary. They are right. In fact, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to begin when it comes to experiencing and enjoying some of the locally produced artworks. Do you go to a local gallery? Swing by a crafting shop? Certainly these are both options, but there must be a better way to get a hefty dose of local handiwork.
Globe-Trotting Music and Dance at the 41st Annual San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival
As the cross-cultural events make their way through San Francisco, we take pride on this blog in being able to discuss some of the most exciting ways to learn about and celebrate some of the many unique heritages that make up our diverse city. Today, we are shining our little spotlight on the Zellerbach Hall, located at Berkeley University, as it prepares to open its doors to the public for the 41st Annual San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival which takes place on the weekend of July 6th and 7th as well as July 13th and 14th.
