Ease Into the Weekend at Presidio Twilights

For six straight years, the famed Presidio has taken advantage of the warmer summer weather, the longer summer days, and the beautiful summer sunsets to launch their series Presidio Twilight. Taking place on Thursday evenings from the 23rd of May until the early days of September – with only July 4th as an exception – the Presidio Twilight is a chance to gather with family and friends around San Francisco’s biggest public campfire as the day draws to a close.

Could there be a better way to begin the weekend than in the crackles and snaps of an enormous campfire while around you folks of all ages laugh, sing, talk, share stories, or just sit in silence as the sun sets on the purple and crimson streaked horizon, as sea birds skim across the darkening waters, and the breeze brings with it increasing doses of night air?

If that isn’t enough to entice you into making your way to the Presidio on Thursday night, then consider that this year Presidio Twilight is going to be larger than ever before and will include an enormous offering of food from around the world prepared by some of the Bay Area’s most renowned chefs and culinary experts. Some of the various food vendors to be featured in this years Presidio Twilight include:

• Mozzeria – making pizzas in an authentic Neapolitan style
• El Porteno – creating unforgettable empanadas
• Sip n’ Slurp – the folks behind the warming Asian noodles that are sweeping across the city

Why not grab a plate and rent a communal lawn dome while you enjoy the meal? If you feel so moved, there will also be dusk yoga where you can perform the final sun salutations of the day.

Live music performed by a rotating lineup of local musicians will enhance the atmosphere considerably and add that last final campground touch that will cement the experience in your mind for many years to come.

While the Presidio is a large area, it is best to arrive early in order to ensure that you can obtain a perfect spot with which to enjoy your meal, watch the sunset, and listen to the music.
