Third Annual Botanicals and Brews Returns to San Francisco

In San Francisco, it is almost impossible to avoid the overwhelming number of amazing breweries that lie scattered about the transformed city. In a similar manner, it is almost impossible to find yourself left with a weekend that can’t be spent wandering through some beer-themed festival or other that has taken over one of the Bay Area’s numerous picturesque streets. If, however, you woke up this morning and wondered just what you’re going to do on the third Friday of July, August, September, October, and if you also have a hankering to drink your beer while spending some quality time among beautiful flowers, then boy do we have a treat for you today.

The Conservatory of Flowers is one of San Francisco’s most important collections of natural beauty, and it is known around the country for its especially wide collection of tropical flowers. Right now, all of those flowers are bursting with their full colors, filling the conservatory with a kaleidoscopic glow that cannot be seen anywhere else within the city. Every third Friday, the Conservatory becomes uniquely transformed into a beer-lovers wonderland, allowing hop-heads to wander through the technicolor blooms while sipping some of the city’s best ales, pilsners, maibocks, and stouts.

This is the third straight year that the Conservatory of Flowers has hosted the Botanicals and Brews, and that means that this event is both successful and continuing to try new things to see what best fits in with the city. Attendees of any of the third Fridays of this year’s Botanicals and Brews will find themselves in an illuminated garden, drinking world-class beers, sitting at picnic tables and looking out over the colorful Conservatory as well as the valley in which it lies nestled like a stamen.

In addition to the flowers and the beer, Botanicals and Brews will also feature plenty of live music, plenty of food trucks, and, sometimes, a very special beer brewed specifically for the event – meaning that you can only taste it if you come to the Conservatory!

Prices for Botanicals and Brews range between $29 (general admission) and $49 (special admission which includes things like one free beer, a fancy glass to take home, and a free flight of four beers). Botanicals and Brews begins at 6:30 in the evening and runs until 11:00pm.
