Bay Area Restaurant Hopping 2015
There’s a new craze in the Bay Area, and it’s called restaurant hopping. Particularly popular for first dates, anniversaries, birthdays, or just to switch things up, San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and other area residents have been opting to dine at a handful of restaurants… all in one night. No, this isn’t about binge eating. Rather, it’s a tapas-style approach. It’s a way to make an evening of some of the best dining in the world. Also, if you prefer Asian fusion cuisine, for example, but your sweetheart enjoys the finest of French food, this is the ideal way to ensure that everyone is happy.
The Flaming Lips Play San Francisco on New Years Eve
The Flaming Lips are still the band to see after over 30 years of performing. The fact that they are from Oklahoma City is just the tip of the weird iceberg that is Wayne Coyne and his band mates. Here are some of the things the Lips live shows have bequeathed to the world: puppets, giant hands, elaborate costumes, blood (lots of blood), confetti, a video of an eye surgery, a gigantic inflatable hamster ball, and more confetti. Lots of confetti.
San Francisco Thanksgiving Dinner Cruise 2015
The holiday season is quickly approaching. Despite the cooler air, the promise of extra time with family and friends brings undeniable warmth.
Premier Annual San Francisco International South Asian Film Festival

Spooked at the Strand
Halloween is almost here, and that means a slew of special events, parties, and costume contests will happen around beautiful San Francisco. Perhaps the most difficult decision will be choosing just which one to attend, as the variety and volume might feel overwhelming. Spooked at the Strand, which happens only on October 26th, at 6 p.m., might be one of the most exciting programs being offered this season, and definitely something worth checking out.
Creatures of the NightLife: The Strangest Event in San Francisco
Maybe the most bizarre combination of Halloween-themed activities, Nightlife is a one-night-only event that takes place on October 29th, starting at 6:00, and will surely delight and amaze the scientist, the sicko, and the psychopath inside of you. It will be impossible to see everything, but definitely try anyway as each performance, exhibition, and presentation will fill you with awe, fear, and perhaps some revulsion as the Bay Area Science Festival teams up with the entertainment group NightLife to create an unforgettable event.
34th Annual San Francisco Fall Antiques Show
The nationally renowned San Francisco Fall Antiques Show will be held at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason from October 22nd to the 25th. On the 21st, Antique Show ticketholders will be able to attend the Opening Night Preview Gala, long considered a touchstone in San Francisco’s society circles. Better conceived of as a sumptuous party, the Gala attracts some of San Francisco’s best live music, cocktail makers, and food (courtesy of the famous McCalls Catering and Events) for a night of antiques appreciation and socializing.
de Young’s Royal Hawaiian Featherwork: Nā Hulu Ali‘I Exhibit
Now through February 28th, Hawaiian culture, history, and art will be on display at the Textiles Gallery of the de Young Museum. The Nā Hulu Ali‘I Exhibit presents some of the world’s most intricate featherwork sent from the generous Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum in Honolulu. In fact, this is the first time in history that Hawaiian featherwork will be formally displayed on the mainland!
Mudhoney To Perform at The Chapel 2015
Before Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana, there was Mark Arm and Mudhoney. Many argue that Mudhoney made Grunge possible and aided the changing of the musical guard in the early 90’s possible. Seeing them live is to Nirvana what seeing Leadbelly would have been to taking in the Rolling Stones. In 1991, releases like Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge laid the groundwork for all Seattle grunge to follow. Famous for cultivating punk and metal but adding rhythm and percussion, they improved on what bands like the Melvins and Green River had started.
Open Mic Night in Oakland 2015
Have you been to The New Parkway Theater? If you live in or frequent Oakland’s Uptown district, you might consider this community-centered cinema and café a neighborhood staple. The comfy couches allow guests to feel like they’re in their own living rooms… but the experience is even better!
