Spooked at the Strand

Halloween is almost here, and that means a slew of special events, parties, and costume contests will happen around beautiful San Francisco. Perhaps the most difficult decision will be choosing just which one to attend, as the variety and volume might feel overwhelming. Spooked at the Strand, which happens only on October 26th, at 6 p.m., might be one of the most exciting programs being offered this season, and definitely something worth checking out.

About the Spooking

A seasonal event put on by the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.), a Tony Award-winning institution that is also the largest theater company in the Bay Area, Spooked at the Strand is a celebration of the A.C.T.’s prestigious MFA program that fosters and encourages the talents of some of the most important new voices at work in the live theater world today. This cabaret-style performance will feature works written and/or performed by members of the MFA (past alums include Nicolas Cage, Danny Glover, and Teri Hatcher), and audience members have a unique chance to see these emerging talents at the genesis of their careers, as well as financially support the vital program from which they come.

Included in most ticket prices are:

• 6 p.m. Cocktail Reception: Occurring before the performance, this reception gives theater lovers a chance to mingle with one another and imbibe exquisite cocktails.
• 8 p.m. Cabaret Performance: The main event, the performance, showcases pieces prepared by the MFA candidates, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to catch a glimpse of the entertainment world’s next big stars.
• 9 p.m. Returning to the lobby of the Strand Theater, guests will enjoy more cocktails, fabulous deserts, mingling with the performers, and dancing provided by DJ Flaxo.
