Mark Arm and Mudhoney
Before Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana, there was Mark Arm and Mudhoney. Many argue that Mudhoney made Grunge possible and aided the changing of the musical guard in the early 90’s possible. Seeing them live is to Nirvana what seeing Leadbelly would have been to taking in the Rolling Stones. In 1991, releases like Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge laid the groundwork for all Seattle grunge to follow. Famous for cultivating punk and metal but adding rhythm and percussion, they improved on what bands like the Melvins and Green River had started.
