San Francisco International Arts Festival 2019
The Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture is one of the premiere institutions operating within the city of San Francisco. Every year, it provides a space and opportunity for hundreds and hundreds of artists from around the world to showcase their work and reach an audience that otherwise might never hear of these pioneering voices. While the normal programming for the center is certainly worth checking out, there is one event in particular that deserves to be at the top of your to-do list if you happen to be in or around the Bay Area between May 23rd and June 2nd.
A Whole Lot-a Laughs: Clusterfest Returns to San Francisco
If you’re invested in comedy, and if you live anywhere near San Francisco, then you will already be aware of Clusterfest. For those who find themselves standing just out of the comedic newsfeed, perhaps it doesn’t have quite the same familiar ring to it, which is understandable because Clusterfest has only been around for three years. But, my goodness, what a marvelous three years.

Darkness lies upon us as the longest night of the year approaches with alarming rapidity. Even though our Bay Area winters are not as overbearing as something you might find in Wisconsin (and who wouldn’t gladly trade six months of snow for 12 of a constant, light fog?), we still experience the soul-crushing darkness that comes with winter, no matter what the temperature. In order to combat the endless night, numerous artists within the city have gathered together to create breathtaking, surprising, and beautiful sculptures that use as their central thesis the one thing we all crave so badly at this moment: light.
By the Pen of Aeschylus! A Taste of Greece Returns to San Francisco
Getting to Greece takes a long time. It’s a hard and fast fact, and one that is apt to frustrate given the number of marvelous things that Greece has to offer to prospective visitors. For those of us unable to take two weeks off of work and spend $2,000 on plane tickets, there has been nothing for us except to drown our miseries in kalamata olives and grape leaves. That is, until now. Greece will come to San Francisco in festival form towards the end of September, enlivening everyone’s first few days of fall, and providing visitors with unforgettable food, drinks, and entertainment.
5th Annual Sonoma County Vegetable Fest
Veggies…where would we be without them? Probably comatose on our couches, wasted from energy depletion, and steadily packing on the pounds. Fortunately, vegetables are here and just waiting for us to eat them! In honor of our leafy greens, some of the folks down in Sonoma County have put together the Sonoma County VegFest. Now in its 5th year, the annual event is more than just a promotion of healthy food choices. It is also a gathering of individuals committed to pursuing sustainable living, environmental preservation, and compassion towards all living things.
