The 22nd Annual Sonoma International Film Festival

Now that Spring is on its way, many cities throughout the country are preparing their annual film festivals. Nowhere is this more pronounced than in San Francisco, one of the most notoriously film-obsessed cities in the country.

Today, we want to highlight just such a festival. The Sonoma International Film Festival is turning 22, and we could not be more pleased. As anyone who has had the good fortune to make it to the SIFF will tell you, this festival a true gem when it comes to its lineup of amazing movies from around the globe. Past years have quickly brought the festival to its well-deserved place as one of the more highly anticipated film festivals in the northern Californian area in general and the Bay Area in particular.

This year, the festival will feature over 100 films in numerous categories, including:

• Independent feature films
• Animated and live-action short films
• Documentaries
• World cinema of all varieties

While it is true that the films are shown at numerous different venues, it is also a fact that none of these venues stands very far from the historic plaza at the heart of Sonoma. In other words, while you might find yourself holding tickets to several different movies at several different venues, you will be able to walk from film to film without much trouble at all!

Taking place over the course of only five days, the SIFF packs a lot in a short period of time. It is partially due to this reason that MovieMaker Magazine ranked it one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World. Another large part of this reason is that the SIFF attracts some of the biggest names in the film industry to come walk its red carpet and attend screenings. Past festivals have seen celebrities such as Susan Sarandon, Meg Ryan, and Danny Glover all in attendance, and this year is sure to feature plenty of well-known faces mingling with the crowds.

This year, the Sonoma International Film Festival will run from Wednesday, March 27th, until Sunday, March 31st. In addition to its amazing lineup of movies, the festival will also see the return of the SIFF Village which will be offering festival-goers a wide array of food and beverage options to satisfy those needs which the films cannot.
