A Whole Lot-a Laughs: Clusterfest Returns to San Francisco
If you’re invested in comedy, and if you live anywhere near San Francisco, then you will already be aware of Clusterfest. For those who find themselves standing just out of the comedic newsfeed, perhaps it doesn’t have quite the same familiar ring to it, which is understandable because Clusterfest has only been around for three years. But, my goodness, what a marvelous three years.
You’ve been to comedy shows before, you know the drill: someone stands on stage, says some funny things, everyone laughs a bunch and then goes home. Except when it comes to Clusterfest. Why? It’s in the name: ClusterFEST. This is not just a comedy event. It’s an entire festival full of food, music, drinks, friends, and so, so, so much more. Including, of course, plenty of comedy.
This year’s lineup of acts performing at Clusterfest includes world famous acts in both the comedic and musical world, such as:
- John Mulaney
- Girl Talk
- Sinbad
- Leslie Jones
- Japanese Breakfast
- Comedy Bang! Bang! With Scott Aukerman
- Tig Notaro
- The My Favorite Murder podcast
There are dozens and dozens of other acts that will be featured at the event, so if you don’t see someone you love already (and you do, I’m sure of it), then don’t worry: Clusterfest is still for you.
In addition to the live acts, Clusterfest will also have some absurdly meticulous re-creations of some of your favorite comedy locations. Did you ever watch Seinfeld and wish you could sit on Jerry’s couch when Kramer came sliding in through the door? How about taking a seat behind Michael Scott’s desk in his office on The Office? Now’s your chance! At Clusterfest, some of the most iconic rooms and areas in the history of American comedy have been recreated for your exploring pleasure.
Also making a special appearance will be a bar where you can reenact your own version of Drunk History, a charging station where you can listen to some of the most classic episodes of Crank Yankers while ogling the very puppets that made the show such a delight, and a special museum where famous props from the hit FX series Atlanta will be on display.
Clusterfest will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium over the course of one wonderful summer weekend, from Friday, June 21st, until Sunday, the 23rd. Tickets are currently on sale, so get them while they’re still available!
