Every Friday night, between 5:00pm and 10:00pm, dozens of the city’s best and most exciting food carts gather around the Fort Mason Center’s waterfront. This season, the lineup of carts is extraordinary in its breadth and depth, and the whole ensemble is topped with DJs and live bands playing from the beginning to the end of the night.
How does it work? Its simple: the carts gather into a massive circle, and in the center is a full bar, the bands, and you, the lucky person here to soak in the atmosphere and, of course, eat some delicious food.

With everything from Chinese delicacies to decadent desserts, Off the Grid, is a highly respected and well attended event that celebrates the tremendous variety of ethnicities represented in the Bay Area as well as the surging food cart culture. Born in 2010, Off the Grid has quickly become one of the hottest spots in San Francisco for experiencing gourmet food in a mobile environment. After its inception, it began to grow rapidly, and now it helps arrange and promote over 50 weekly food cart markets throughout the Bay Area.
With a focus on exquisite cuisine as well as community building, Off the Grid is an important landmark in the history of food, and every year more and more people travel to the Fort Mason Center on Friday nights to experience the magic and the wonder of good food, good music, and good people.
