When craft beer really burst onto the scene in the early 2000’s, the beverage world was turned upside down by the introduction of something lovely and unexpected into a world that had been, up until that point, fairly predictable and droll. Instead of needing to choose between Bud Light and Corona, beer lovers were provided with a wealth of stunning options, leading to a massive surge in craft brewers, which led to even more exciting things to try, which led to even more people deciding to go and brew beer.
Something similar is beginning to happen with spirits, leading experts to begin to see a possible explosion of interest in the craft spirit world.
As always, San Francisco stands at the cusp of the future. On Saturday, September 21st, and Sunday, September 22nd, the Golden Gate Club at the Presidio (135 Fisher Loop) will transform into a craft spirit mecca. Distillers from around the world will gather to discuss, distribute, and decant their golden elixirs into souvenir glasses held by the lucky attendees of this weekend’s event.
What can you expect? Premium spirits made in limited batches and available for you to try before they vanish back into the magical ether from whence they came. Try handcrafted whiskies, bourbons, brandys, and ryes stemming from the four corners of the globe and now here in San Francisco for you enjoyment.
Not only will you be able to experience the once-in-a-lifetime chance to try some of these rare spirits, you will also get the rare opportunity to speak to the distillers themselves! Come prepared to learn, to have your mind expanded in lovely and warming ways.
