San Francisco Documentary Film Festival
Documentary films occupy a unique place in the social/political/artistic landscape of this country. They hold many disparate threads together and become, more often than not, fascinating mixtures of art and activism. An essential component to film history, documentaries also refuse simple categorization.

If you enjoy wine, beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay, and amazing discounts then you will not want to miss the upcoming Spring Wine Pour at Pier 39 that is happening on May 18th. A great way to get out and enjoy the most refreshing of all seasons, the Pier 39 Spring Wine Pour will be an event focusing on something that northern California knows very well: wine. Bay to Breakers 12K Run and Costume Party
Running. It’s a lifestyle, so they say, although it often seems like one that involves a whole lot of effort. And while there is certainly something to be said for either participating in a run or going to cheer on someone you know who is participating, it often feels that the moments of excitement are few and far between. Unless, that is, you happen to be witnessing or participating in the Bay to Breakers run in San Francisco.
San Francisco International Arts Festival
Each year, art lovers throughout the Bay Area mark their calendars for the dates of the San Francisco International Arts Festival. This event, which lasts for a little over a week, draws people from around the world to its unique lineup of performing artists, its fabulous collection of booths selling original artworks, and its exhibition spaces which often feature some of the most original and arresting work of the season.
5th Annual MEX AM
Anyone who has spent even the most cursory amount of time in the Bay Area will tell you that it is home to numerous cultures. And anyone who has spent even the most cursory amount of time exploring this blog will tell you that most of these cultures have their own festival. Today, we want to highlight a relatively new festival that was born out of a desire to immerse festival goers in Mexican culture. MEX AM, an event geared to highlight the contributions of Mexico and Mexicans in artistic and other culturally enhancing spheres, will take place from May 1st and run until May 8th.
14th Annual Cinco de Mayo in The Mission
Among the most anticipated and exciting events coming up in the next few weeks is the dazzling Cinco de Mayo. While the original event was born in the mid-1800s to celebrate the surprising victory of the Mexican Army over the French Army during the famous Battle of Puebla, the date as it is recognized today (especially in the United States) is treated as a time to honor Mexican and Mexican-American culture throughout the country.
How Weird Day and Street Faire
What would you say if I told you that the 6th of May was recently crowned the official How Weird Day for San Francisco? And then what would you say if I told you that the official How Weird Day also featured and entire How Weird Street Faire?
40th Annual Carnival San Francisco
You’ve been patient throughout an entire year, and now your self control is being rewarded! How, you ask? By the return of the 40th Annual Carnival San Francisco! Your brain might not even be entirely prepared for the waves of exuberance that are about to wash over you on May 26th and 27th on Harrison Street between 16th Street and 24th Street, but your soul is likely aching for this chance to celebrate life, music, and art.
Port of San Francisco ‘Walkshop’ Tours
Do you have interest in shaping the future of the waterfront? Then the Port of San Francisco wants to hear from you. In April, the agency in charge of the port will be holding two public walking tours and an open house workshop. The idea behind these tours and meetings is to share recommendations that came out of a 2.5 year long process to update the Waterfront Plan.
