Free Movie Night at Orinda Theatre 2015
It’s really common today for families, couples, and friends to head out to the movie theater on any night of the week. Movie theatres today are often multiplexes with more than 10 movie screens, several showing times, attached to malls with big box stores, and promise 3-D projectors and state of the art sound systems. But, remember all the theatres you’ve seen in the movies from the early days of cinema? The lit-up theatre in the center of town that only showed one or two flicks at a time, and the whole town would come out on Friday night to see the show.

When acoustic chart-toppers “Riptide” and “Mess is Mine” hit every road trip playlist this past summer, Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy became an instant celebrity. Known to take inspiration from greats like Bob Dylan and George Harrison, Vance sings with a soft melody and an impressive vocal range makes him instantly recognizable. He typically has no technical enhancements in the background, and his style is categorized by many as "easy listening" or "acoustic-based."

From riparian woods to tidal estuary, a number of habitats serve as homes to gorgeous wildlife. From breathtaking cliffs to serene sandy areas, the Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve makes for a lovely daytrip.

Sonic Youth is alternative rock. This is the band that inspired Pearl Jam and got a shout out from the Pixies. Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley took rhythm, noise and art and threw it in a blender thereby creating one of the most influential bands of all time. Being the best band to ever come out of New York is an incredible feat in and of itself.

The museum is a non-profit established by the celebrity’s daughter, and, although it is not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company, it’s a must-see for any fan.
