Vance Joy Plays the Fox Theatre
When acoustic chart-toppers “Riptide” and “Mess is Mine” hit every road trip playlist this past summer, Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy became an instant celebrity. Known to take inspiration from greats like Bob Dylan and George Harrison, Vance sings with a soft melody and an impressive vocal range makes him instantly recognizable. He typically has no technical enhancements in the background, and his style is categorized by many as "easy listening" or "acoustic-based."
The indie-folk star’s “Fire and The Flood” tour takes off in early 2016, and will be the first headline run for Joy. He spent much of 2015 as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s “1989 World Tour,” an experience he reported taught him a lot about performing live for large crowds and audience interaction. Much needed training as he goes into his headlining tour, which is sure to sell out arenas across North America. In addition to many of the tracks from Joy’s most recent album Dream Your Life Away, audiences can also expect to hear some of his new singles including “Fire and the Flood,” which he has already debuted at Swift shows, and mentioned in an interview another upcoming single that will frequent his set list “Straight Into Your Arms.” His openers will include Rueben and the Dark, Ellen King, Blind Pilot, and Jamie Lawson – all sure to be much better style matches than Taylor Swift.
Tickets are on sale now for his tour which kicks off in January. He’ll hit the Fox Theatre in Oakland on February 26th, 2016, a show you don’t want to miss!
