September Festivals in San Francisco
While September means fantastic events and experiences for all of sunny California, when it comes to festivals, San Francisco’s cup runs over (and then some). Take a look at some of the area’s best offerings for 2015.
Rockin’ in the Bay Area
Live music abounds this fall in the Bay Area. People can hear everything from classical music to hard rock; it all depends on your taste and desires.
Four Great New Restaurants in San Francisco
Food and culture are big reasons to visit a new city, and San Francisco is no exception. In fact, the city has just been named the "best food city in the country" by Bon Appetit magazine. In addition to such accolades, San Francisco keeps visitors on their toes with a constantly shifting landscape of hot new restaurants. Whether you’re in the Bay area on a return visit or you’re brand new to it all, get a taste of the most current flavors in San Francisco with four of the newest venues to hit the culinary scene.
Suds Flow in San Francisco
San Francisco has a long-standing microbrewery tradition, tracing its roots to the end of the 19th century. In 1896, Ernst F. Baruth and his son-in-law, Otto Schinkel, Jr., purchased an old brewery on Pacific Avenue and renamed it Anchor. The brewery burned down during the 1906 earthquake and survived prohibition. Renowned for a style called steam beer, the brewery was purchased by Fritz Maytag. He grew the business into an institution in the 1970s and 1980s and introduced the first modern-day Porter in the United States and the first India Pale Ale.
Football Takes the Field in Oakland and San Francisco
The gridiron is returning to the Bay Area. It’s the time of year when massive men dawn shoulder pads and helmets and play what has quickly become America’s game – as opposed to baseball.
The Bard Comes to the Bay
Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s classic plays. It’s a story of the love that binds a young man and young women together, but two families that are content on keeping them apart. The play, like most of Shakespeare, is a tragedy.
Oktoberfest By The Bay
How lovely is it that we don’t have to wait for October to celebrate Oktoberfest? San Francisco’s Oktoberfest By The Bay will take place from September 25th through the 27th at Pier 48. Deemed one of the ten best places to attend this German-style party, you won’t want to miss the sights, sounds, and – perhaps most importantly – the tastes of this annual celebration.
Lindy In The Park
Are you looking to Lindy Hop in the Bay Area? Whether you are a visiting dancer or a San Francisco resident wanting to learn how to Charleston, boogie back, or shorty George, join the action – there’s free swing dancing at Golden Gate Park every Sunday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Bay Area Brew Festival 2015
For decades, Northern California’s adult beverage celebrations were all about the wine. With fantastic vineyards such as the ones we have in Northern California, this is somewhat understandable. However, what about our world-renowned craft beer? San Francisco and the greater Bay Area’s residents are thrilled about the Bay Area Brew Fest, which features domestic and international offerings as well as a variety of San Fran’s tastiest food truck delicacies.
Alcatraz Challenge Aquathlon/Swim 2015
Are you looking for a truly unique Northern California experience? Or perhaps you’re one of those people who – even during vacation – has trouble sitting still. Have you heard about the Alcatraz Challenge Aquathlon/Swim?
