Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes performance specialist AMG are planning a very special surprise for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The movie stars and other VIPs attending this year’s films will be treated to limousines with custom golden paint jobs in tribute to the Palme d’Or, or Golden Palm, the award given each year to the director of the festival’s best film. The festival, one of the highlights of the year for film lovers and film industry glitterati, will be held from May 15 through 26 at this beautiful location on the French Riviera.
Some months ago, we blogged about the first street-legal all-electric limousine, a Nissan Leaf limo made for a hotel in Nashville. That custom limousine must not have delivered the expected boost in reservations, as it is now listed on eBay with a starting bid of $50,000 and a Buy It Now price of $57,000. The Nashville Embassy Suites Hotel owns the limo, which seats eight people and was built by custom luxury vehicle manufacturer Imperial Coach Builders, based in Springfield, Missouri.
According to the builder, they intentionally kept most of the Leaf’s features as intact as possible while extending the subcompact by around eight feet and adding around 400 pounds to its weight. They shifted the limo’s battery pack to the rear for better balance, stability and performance and added customary limousine amenities such as these:
Regular readers of this blog know that we often write about all things weird and wonderful in the automotive world, and the first all-electric limo was no exception. While we do offer San Francisco hybrid rentals in our fleet of vehicles, we prefer to keep our Prius and Camry hybrids separate from our Bay Area limousine rentals. Each fills a very important niche for our clients, and, while an all-electric limo certainly piques our curiosity, we won’t be placing a bid on this limo any time soon. We suspect that Embassy Suites commissioned this custom limo to generate interest and perhaps enhance the hotel’s credibility with environmentally conscious guests. We also suspect that guests’ reactions to the limo were lukewarm, which lead to it being auctioned to the highest bidder.
Electric vehicles are a very responsible and practical way to run errands and provide everyday transportation to work and other destinations, but our guests do not rent our limousines, party buses and other luxury vehicles for daily transportation. They rent them for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, concerts, sporting events and many other special events that transcend the everyday. It is our job to ensure that their experience enhances their special event and makes it more comfortable, luxurious and most important, fun! If you are looking for the Bay Area limousine service that has the best selection of luxury limousines in the San Francisco area, you have come to the right place! Browse the pages of our site to check out images of the many options in our fleet, and, for more information and to place your reservation, just give us a call at NLS Limo at 800-339-8936.
California is a wonderland for antique car aficionados. The weather here is perfect for preserving classic cars and other automotive gems, and Southern California is the epicenter of the antique car universe. On the last Saturday of each month, car enthusiasts flock to the Fontana Car Show event held in at the Civic Center Campus parking lot. The show is free and attracts people from all over the country to view the classic cars on display.
"I really like coming to car shows," said classic car owner Diana Fiel of Rialto. "I like getting to see the beauty of antique cars."
Fiel is the proud owner of a lovely 1951 Chevy 3100 series pickup truck. She recently entered her truck in the show for the first time and says that she and other participants love talking to the people who attend the show and the attention that the antique cars receive. If you’re in the Fontana area on the last Saturday of the month, the show is open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and it’s a great way to spend the afternoon.
"There’s nothing like seeing classic cars up close," said attendee Gabriel Tellez.
We couldn’t agree more. In fact, the only thing better than seeing classic cars up close is being able to rent and ride in them! We have a very respectable selection of Bay Area antique car and classic car rentals, and they are available at very affordable rates. Our guests rent our San Francisco classic cars for a wide range of different special events, including these:
- Wine tours
- Sightseeing tours
- Nights on the town
- Many other occasions!
For pictures and information about each of the antique cars in our fleet, please browse the pages of our site. If you have questions or would like to reserve one of our beautiful San Francisco classic car rentals for an upcoming special occasion, just give us a call at NLS Limo at 800-339-8936! We’re always on the lookout for new antique cars to add to our selection. Maybe we’ll see you at the next Fontana Car Show!
Big Anniversary Coming Up? Surprise Your Sweetheart by Renting a San Francisco Limousine for Your Anniversary!
If your sixth wedding anniversary is looming, flowers and a nice dinner at an agreeable restaurant will probably cover it as long as you’re willing to put in the time looking for a decent card. However, if your tenth, fifteenth, twentieth or twenty-fifth anniversary is coming up, flowers, dinner and a card aren’t going to cut it. Failing to grasp the momentous nature of these milestones is almost certain to trigger some unwelcome ripples in your domestic water. These ripples can manifest themselves in all sorts of unpleasant ways, such as friendly reminders that the gutters need cleaning while you’re watching golf on a Sunday afternoon or spirited insistence that you paint the extra bedroom now.
