Barrel Tasting with the Wine Road
The Wine Road, one of the world’s most renowned collectives of wineries and guest houses, is now accepting reservations for its exclusive and highly anticipated March event: Barrel Tasting.
Spanning two weekends right at the beginning of the Spring season, Barrel Tasting will offer wine enthusiasts and those who want to be wine enthusiasts the chance to experience never-before tasted vintages in some of the the Sonoma regions most beautiful locations. This event also gives attendees the chance to purchase “futures” for each wine sampled. Each wine highlighted on the tasting will be tasted straight from the barrel. Because none of the wines have yet been bottled, event attendees will have the opportunity to reserve discounted bottles and cases for when the wine becomes commercially available, likely between 12 and 18 months from the event itself.
Drinking great wine is in itself a pleasure, but getting to do it surrounded by others who share the same passion and in the presence of the winemakers themselves is a rare treat indeed. The Wine Road’s Barrel Tasting event gears itself specifically towards this purpose, and as you make your way through the picturesque Alexander, Russian River, and Dry Creek Valleys you will retain the complex taste of the wines sampled on your tongue and the insightful words of the wine makers in your mind.
Close enough to the city to make the trip worthwhile but far enough away to make it seem like an adventure, a trip through the Sonoma region on the Barrel Tasting tour is a perfect getaway for those needing a little pick-me-up after the winter. Go alone or gather a group of friends to join you (important: no busses allowed, but large vans are acceptable), but prepare yourself for some wonderful wines tasted in the company of some wonderful people. Over 100 vineyards will participate in the Barrel Tasting event, guaranteeing that everyone will find something worthwhile along the journey. Pack a weekend bag, pack a picnic, and get ready for a weekend full of unique and memorable wines.
The Barrel Tasting event runs on the weekends of March 3-5 and March 10-12. Advance tickets are on sale from January 17th until February 27th and cost $50 each.
