Hiring a car to take people from one place to another in Beijing is becoming a very big business as traffic restrictions make it increasingly difficult for residents to own and drive cars. City officials have adopted these restrictions as part of a concerted effort to reduce the city’s serious traffic problems. Taking drastic measures, Beijing officials have issued a month-long moratorium on buying cars, and they plan to issue license plates through a lottery system after the ban has expired.
