Explore Indefinable Artwork at The Contemporary Jewish Museum

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on December 22, 2019

On this blog, we often highlight unusual or special events in the Bay Area. Film festivals, wine tastings, mobile food pop-ups, and craft markets are our traditional fare, and if you’ve used us as a resource for something to do in San Francisco and the surrounding area, the chances are good that its been for an event or activity that had a specific time window. Today, we are going to take a departure from this formula to look at something a little more fixed: The Contemporary Jewish Museum.

More commonly known as The CJM, the museum is a well-known throughout the Bay Area for its unique exhibitions that focus on Jewish culture. This culture includes art, history, and all the things in between. Because it doesn’t have a permanent collection, The CJM is continually updating and refreshing itself. This means that every different to the museum will offer visitors something completely new! The following are a few of The CJM’s current lineup of exhibits and experiences.

Annabeth Rosen’s Fired, Broken, Gathered, Heaped

Running until January 19th, 2020, this exhibition is the first ever large-scale survey by a museum of Rosen’s incredible work with ceramics. With more than 120 individual items in the show, the survey includes small works, enormous works, and even paper designs for future pieces that can give visitors an idea as to the direction this influential Northern Californian artist is currently headed.

Izidora Leber LETHE: Peristyle

Another first for the artist in question, LETHE’s Peristyle lands as the first ever solo exhibition by this unique and genre-defying work by the Croatian-Swiss-Oakland artist. A piece created to change depending on the performance space, Peristyle is a massive performance piece that pulls from the twin pillars of Brutalist architecture as well as minimalist musical pieces. Intended to plumb the depths of LETHE’s multi-faceted memories from the many countries she calls home, Peristyle is a deeply personal work that is bound to leave an impression.

These are only two of the many amazing events taking place within The CJM over this holiday season. For a full selection, visit their website.
