Bay Area Sightseeing Tours
San Francisco is a town full of iconic locations that everybody knows of. You pay a bunch of money to go on a bog standard tour of the city that may get you some nice photos, but almost no actual knowledge of the city and it’s history. If you’re looking for deep insight and lore, you might want to check out San Francisco City Guides. They provide walking tours of the city that may show you something the other companies can’t provide you.
In 2016 there will be a new face to modern art in San Francisco – yet it will feel so familiar at the same time. In the midst of a complete transformation, the new San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is ready to pave the way for the city’s renewed arts and culture scene. While it doesn’t officially open until May 14, 2016, here are a few reasons to mark your calendars and start planning a trip to San Francisco.
With more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in America, finding the perfect place to eat in San Francisco is a challenge, to say the least. It’s especially overwhelming for tourists who may be visiting the city for the first time, or even the fifth time. When I first experienced this challenge for myself, I turned where I always turn to when I need help – my smartphone. There truly is an app for everything, even finding the perfect place to eat in America’s largest food capital. We’re leaving out the big guys like Yelp, OpenTable, and Foursquare on this one – but that’s not to say reviews on these sites aren’t helpful.
With so many bars in San Francisco to choose from, it’s easy to spend upwards of an hour reading reviews and doing research just figure out where a good spot to grab a drink is. That’s why we put together this handy list, to help any kind of drinker figure out which bar is the right one for them in the Golden Gate City.
San Francisco is a city made for luxury transportation. How many other urban destinations have something like the 49-Mile Scenic Tour? A tradition since 1938, starting and ending at City Hall, this route showcases a plethora of Northern California gems including:
Classic car enthusiasts from California and across the country have bought their tickets and booked hotel reservations for one of the biggest events of the year. From Nov. 15 through Nov. 17, the eyes (and checkbooks) of the automotive cognoscenti will turn to the Anaheim Convention Center, where more than 800 classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars and other automotive wonders will go on the auction block. The auction is being held by Mecum Auction Inc., which expects to sell many millions of dollars worth of steel, chrome and rubber before the gavel falls for the last time on this year’s auction.
Admission is $15, and the gates open at 8 a.m. each day, but prospective buyers will want to have plenty of cash reserves to bid on such beauties as these:
- Tom McMullen’s 1932 Ford Deuce roadster, which appeared on the covers of Hot Rod, Street Rodder and Popular Hot Rod magazines, complete with paint job designed by legendary hot rod designer “Big Daddy” Ed Roth
- A 1936 Ford Jack Calori Coupe, a best-in-class winner at the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach
- A Le Mans blue 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Convertible, powered by a 427-cubic-inch, 430-horsepower engine

The parents of seven graduating high school seniors gave their kids a very cool reward that allowed their kids to end their high school careers in style. After the last day of school this year, these lucky kids were picked up at school by a pink limousine, which transported the graduates around town for two hours. The graduates, six young ladies and one young man from Clay High School in South Bend, Indiana, were picked up promptly at 2:45 p.m. one recent afternoon at their school’s front entrance. The location of the pickup, as well as the color of the limo, made it impossible for anyone in the school and immediate area to miss this very unique graduation gift.
"I was the first one out of class, and I saw the pink limousine and I was confused," said one of the lucky graduates. "Then I saw Kaylee, and we knew it for us. I was so excited. I just stood there screaming."
The only male of the group said that when he saw his parents waiting outside the school, he wasn’t quite sure whom the limousine was for and what was happening.
"I wondered what was going on and when I saw my parents I was so excited. A pink limo — it was a wonderful thing for our parents to do for us," he said.
By all accounts, the graduates had a wonderful time. They decided that their first stop would be a local yogurt shop for a cool treat. Then, they all climbed back into their limo for a cruise through local streets and neighborhoods while they sang with music on the radio and made music videos in the back of the limo.
The graduates told their friends that they had very mixed feelings about their last day of high school. They were excited to graduate but were a bit apprehensive about not being able to see each other on a daily basis.
"When I walked out of school today I had bags and bags of things from my locker," one of the graduates said after the ride. "When I saw the pink limo I said out loud, ‘It’s not that serious,’ but when I saw our pictures on the limo, I gave my mom a hug and screamed and screamed. It was a great feeling."
