Wisconsin Tour Bus Company Offers Party Bus Craft Beer Tours

Hop Head Brewery, a Wisconsin-based craft brewer with a passionate following among Midwestern beer lovers, has created a new branch of the business to stir sales and make sure beer lovers can imbibe to their hearts’ content and get home safely. The Hop Head Beer Tour Company recently opened for business, and, judging by participation and enthusiasm, this idea is a hit with Wisconsinites who seek the best in malt-based beverages.

The new company is based in Madison, WI and offers day trips in party buses to local craft breweries where thirsty riders can sip samples, enjoy stops at brewpubs and speak with the professional brewers who create different types of amber nectar. Hop Head began transporting guests back in December 2010 and has since offered three beer tours with more planned in the future. Even though their guests are transported in a vehicle known in the industry as a party bus, one of the company’s founders is quick to point out that the day trips are educational, rather than celebratory, in nature.

Justin Schmitz, one of three co-founders of the Hop Head Beer Tour Company, offered a clarification. “This isn’t a party bus,” he said. “We’re trying to market this as more of an educational experience.”

Each guest of the tours pays $65, which includes roomy, comfortable transportation in the “non-party bus,” a nice meal, souvenir beer tasting glasses and a guest host on the bus to explain different aspects of the brewing industry. The craft beer industry has exploded in popularity in recent years with craft beer sales increasing 12 percent in 2010 over the previous year, according to the Brewers Association. There are at least 60 breweries licensed in Wisconsin with more opening every year to cater to beer lovers looking for microbrews.
