The 16th Annual Edwardian Ball Returns to San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom

The internationally-acclaimed Edwardian Ball returns to San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom this January for their 16th annual celebration of the late cult author, comic artist, illustrator and cartoonist Edward Gorey. The whimsical two-day festival, often referred to as the #1 steampunk event in the world, is described by SFWeekly as, "Vintage Fetish meets circus theatrics meets industrial arts mayhem," and by 944 Magazine as “an over-the-top, colorful, quirky, eccentric, whimsical-yet-elegant costume party.”

Enthusiastic and colorfully dressed attendees travel from across the nation and all corners of the globe to this West Coast event for a one-of-kind celebration that blends ballroom dancing, live music, fashion and cosplay, riveting stage shows, DJs and dancing, circus and fine art installations, an award-winning vendor bazaar, absinthe cocktails, black comedy, science fiction, literature, steam machinery, parlor games, alluring sideshows, and much more. The Edwardian-era event has grown over the past fifteen years from an underground club party into an internationally recognized festival of the arts, drawing steampunk and cosplay enthusiasts from all over thanks to the blessing of The Edward Gorey Charitable Trust.

The 16th Annual Edwardian Ball, also called “the quintessential must-never-miss event of the year,” “a defining annual San Francisco tradition,” and “a literary circus of the highest caliber,” will take place at the Regency Ballroom (1300 Van Ness Ave.) on Friday and Saturday, January 22nd and 23rd from 8:00pm to 2:00am.
