Is it a Gold Rush? The 49ers Amazing (and Undefeated) Season Continues
San Francisco 49ers fans are no strangers to disappointment. Ever since 1995, when they won their last Super Bowl, it seems as though to identify oneself as a 49ers fan means to simultaneously identify as someone always getting the short end of the stick. This year, things seem to be changing.
At the time of this writing, the 49ers are sitting on a stunning 6-0 record. With only 10 games of the regular season left to go, their record is already enviable. The fact that in 2018 the 49ers won ZERO of their away games and that, in their current record, four of their six wins happened during away games, then you are left contemplating a thrilling situation for all of those with red and gold wardrobes.
Yes, some bitter souls have felt the need to point out that the 49ers wins have occurred against teams that already hold losing records; and yes, there is a certain amount of aggression that Robert Saleh has brought into the team’s defense that some people feel is a little over the top. The facts, however, remain: the 49ers are winning. A lot. Anyone else out there with a 6-0 record? I didn’t think so.
If you happen to be in San Francisco on the 27th of October, then you might just want to reconsider whatever plans you’d made for the evening and think of instead trying to snag some tickets to watch the 49ers take on the Panthers at the beautiful Levi’s Stadium, which sits within the city of Santa Clara, only a short drive from San Francisco itself. With so much victory behind them, the excitement has extended beyond the rank and file of the traditional fan base. In fact, the enthusiasm is palpable throughout the entire city as the prospect of the 49ers making it through the regular season and into the playoffs becomes increasingly possible.
The Panthers break the mold of 49ers playing against teams with losing records, so this game should be particularly interesting. Will the 49ers manage to retain their admirable streak of wins? Will the support of their home-city be enough to boost them towards victory even after their exhausting tumble through the mud against Washington this past weekend? We will find out!
