San Francisco Thanksgiving Events

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on November 26, 2014

Thanksgiving is one of people’s favorite holidays, because it is not centered on giving gifts and exchanging presents. It is one of the few holidays where we simply celebrate togetherness, charity, and giving thanks for all the good things in our lives. Here are some events in San Francisco that will bring out the best in all of us, by either sharing time with family and friends, or by giving our time to those in need.

Thanksgiving SF City Impact

For the 29th year, San Francisco City Impact will be delivering food to needy families, as well as serving a hot meal to individuals looking for a place to share Thanksgiving dinner. They will be delivering 7000 meals to homes, 500 grocery bags, and then 300 sit-down dinners. Volunteers are still needed for this event, including meal servers, security, greeters, meal prep, meal delivery, grocery shoppers and medical assistants. Groups are encouraged to volunteer, and can do so by contacting hayley@sfcityimpact.com. Volunteers pay $25 to help underwrite the cost of this event, and children under the age of 10 are free. Registration occurs that day at 8:30am, and at San Francisco City Impact, 230 Jones Street, San Francisco. Parking is available for a flat $10 at Rock Star Parking 265 Eddy Street.

Thanksgiving 5k Run

A pre-emptive way to work off the calories you will intake during the big feast, by participating in the Thanksgiving 5k presented by Project Sport. It will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 27 from 8 am to 9:30am. Price for this event is $34.00, and kids are free with a paid adult. A special kids-dash will be held at the Willie Mays Plaza in AT&T Field as well. Donations are also being collected for the San Francisco & Marin Food Bank, either canned goods, cash, or other non-perishables. Register the day of the event between 6:30 – 7:45, with the run/walk beginning at 8am at Terry Francois Blvd. and 3rd, which is behind AT&T Park.
