Run Your Way to A Better You!
IMPORTANT: New Year’s is just around the corner! That means that now, not later, is the time to pick your NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION. These resolutions are a key part of the changing of one calendar year into the next, and they ensure that you will finally get your life on track.
Haven’t come up with anything yet? How about a New Year’s Resolution Classic: running! Odds are good that you know one or two people who have boldly sprinted into the new year, their new sneakers and tight pants proclaiming for all to hear that this here is a person who intends on staying fit, one grueling jog at a time. And don’t worry! According to everyone who sticks at it long enough, the initial agony and exhaustion is replaced by a towering obsession with the activity.
If this sounds good, then we have an exciting opportunity for you. On January 5th, you can join hundreds of other runners for a thrilling jaunt around Crissy Field’s picturesque lagoon. Affording joggers panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Angel Island, the run will start at 9:00 in the morning and will last until…well, until you finish.
How do you know when you’re done? This is the fun part! This New Year’s run is different than others of its kind in that rather than a specific amount of mileage (or, in the world of runners, kilometers) this run is all about how long you want to do it. For those of us just starting out as runners, there is a simple 6-hour run. A child could accomplish this run! Looking for something a little more challenging? Then sign up for the 12-hour run. This means you’ll still be running in the dark, but by that point you probably won’t care anymore.
And, if you have a very special relationship with your running shoes, you could just spend the night. That’s right, we’re talking about 24 straight hours of running in circles around the single mile track of Crissy Field, all the way from 9:00 in the morning on the 5th of January until 9:00 in the morning on the 6th of January.
As an added bonus, money will go to the winners! Imagine: for third place, $20; for 2nd, $35; and for the first place runner goes the tantalizing award of $50. If that isn’t enough to get you off of your butt and onto your feet than I don’t know what is!
Tickets for this event run from $80 to $105 to $190, depending on how long think you can run.
