Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon and 5K
We admit it. We’re feeling it, too. The holidays are not always kind to one’s physique. While we’re at it, we’ll say this: year round, we love living within walking and driving distances to some of the world’s finest food and beverage establishments.
This being said, San Francisco offers numerous health-minded activities, as well. It’s not all about the eats and drinks. Whether you’re off on the right foot when it comes to reaching that New Year’s resolution, or you need to reset and try again, the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon & 5K, which is taking place on February 14th of 2016, might spark some inspiration.
According to the organizers, the race date was shifted to February 14th due to a conflict with Super Bowl 50. Bay Area residents looking to avoid Valentine’s Day might welcome this motivating event. Likewise, couples that enjoy working out together are particularly thrilled about the race’s date.
All of the hype behind this race is well deserved, as it will start and finish in one of the world’s most famous spots: Golden Gate Park. The North (Dutch) Windmill, the South (Murphy) Windmill, the breathtaking Japanese Tea Garden, the culture and art of de Young Museum, and the awe-inspiring view of the Pacific Ocean are only a few of the reasons that this urban park is internationally renowned. Regarding sports, locals and travelers alike partake in horse riding, rugby, volleyball, biking, golf, boating, bocce ball, and much more all within Golden Gate Park.
The run is presented by Pamakid Runners. Sponsors include Clif, Sports Basement, 99.7 [NOW!], Arrowhead, and more. For information on the event, call 415-759-2690 or visit the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon & 5K website. Volunteers are welcome, as well. They’re looking for lead bikers, course safety monitors, water station personnel, and others.
Regardless of how you plan to participate, parking at the Golden Gate Park can be extremely stressful during special events. In fact, oftentimes they close off parking altogether, and visitors are forced to hike quite a distance. We welcome you to ride with Nationwide Limousine Service. Hire a corporate sedan, ride together in a motorized trolley car, or enjoy a tuxedo limousine. Charter buses, party vans, and other late-model vehicles are available, as well.
