Start on Main Street and make your way through the area.
A Tour of Alcatraz
In its more than 100 years of existence, Alcatraz has been a federal prison, a military jail and a residential ground for Native American Indians. In order to visit Alcatraz, you have to book your slot with a company that offers tour services to the venue, which will include entrance and ferry fees. Usually, tours should be booked at least a few days in advance, as they fill up quickly. The tour company will also provide you with a free audio narration, which is voiced by both inmates and prison guards, making it even more interesting.
Board a Cable Car
Cable cars are an integral and iconic part of San Francisco. The city has three trolley lines and boarding any of the cars costs less than $10 per ride. However, you might have to exercise a little patience, as there can often be a line. A trolley is a great way to see the sights in a historic way that’s unique to the city. Like the bus tour, you’ll pass by historic buildings and through winding roads to see all that San Francisco has to offer.
