The Bay Area’s 36th Annual Fillmore Jazz Festival

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 7, 2019

Jazz is returning to the Fillmore early this July, and thousands of people are already marking their calendars in order to ensure they don’t miss one of the most important music events that happens in the Bay Area. We are here speaking of the annual Fillmore Jazz Festival, which is celebrating its 36th straight year this July 6th and 7th.

As is the case with most of the fairs and events that we like to highlight on this blog, the Fillmore Jazz Festival is an outdoor event that consumes a fairly large swath of Fillmore Street, running all the way from Jackson to Eddy. Beginning at 10:00 in the morning on both Saturday and Sunday of its official run, the Fillmore Jazz Festival will go until 6:00 at night, given you and you group more than enough time to enjoy the marvelous variety of musicians, food, crafts, and other events on hand.

Widely regarded as one of the best free festivals in the state, the Fillmore Jazz Festival is also the largest totally free Jazz festival that happens along the entire West Coast. Every year, more than 100,000 people come over the weekend of Independence day to converge in the Fillmore and celebrate the marvelous, mystical, constantly evolving world of Jazz Music. From Asian jazz, to Cajun jazz, to everything in between, the Fillmore Jazz Festival will also feature more than 12 blocks full of art, crafts, and food.

Appearing on the numerous stages that are the main attraction of the Fillmore Jazz fest, attendees will have the chance to see acts such as:

  • Kristen Strom
  • Erik Jekabson Sextet
  • Paula West
  • Le Boef Brothers
  • Element Brass Band
  • California Jazz Conservatory
  • Ray Obiedo Group
  • And so many others!

While you wander up and down Fillmore Street, you will have your ears, eyes, and nose filled with sensory impressions that merge and conflict just like the way the instruments in a jazz group do when they play. It is jazz for the mind! Jazz for the brain! Jazz as a sensory experience.

Come to Fillmore Street on July 6th and 7th to experience Jazz in a way that you never have before.
