San Francisco Frozen Film Festival

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on June 5, 2018

To the delight of cinephiles and lovers of the weird, the San Francisco Frozen Film Festival is returning to our chilly Bay Area for the 13th straight year of enigmatic, exciting, and enticing programing. Listed by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the “20 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” (as well as making the cut for the same magazine’s list of “Top 25 Film Festivals Worth the Fee”), the Frozen Film Festival is founded on the principles that cinema is a valuable form of art, that it can help bring communities together, and that it is essential for as many diverse people as possible to make movies and have these movies seen by the public.

Held at the famous Roxie Theatre as well as the newer PianoFight, the Frozen Film Festival features filmmakers from around the world, all of whom are specially selected after submitting their work to the Frozen Film Festival committee. Many of these filmmakers will then join their work at special screenings, giving the audience a chance to engage in a Q&A with the minds behind the movies.

As well as a chance to have their work exhibited to a larger audience, filmmakers whose movies are accepted into the Frozen Film Festival are also eligible to win numerous awards. In a clear nod to the diversity and uniqueness of the festival itself, categories in which filmmakers can win prizes include:

  • Best Music Documentary
  • Best Feature Documentary
  • Best Filmstock Film
  • Best Skate or Surf Film
  • Best Environmental Film
  • Best Virtual Reality Film
  • Best Animated Short
  • Best Live Action Short
  • Best Music Video

It’s a wild world of movies that is coming to San Francisco in mid-July, with plenty of movie-centric events taking place around the area during the same time! The San Francisco Frozen Film Festival will take place from July 19th until July 22nd, spanning full days in between, and featuring dozens and dozens of films by artists from around the world. Tickets are available now for individual films as well as full festival passes, and it’s a good idea to buy early as tickets for events such as this have a tendency to go quickly!
