Pier 39’s 4th of July Festivities
More tourists visit the Bay Area in July than any other month. The weather in San Francisco is fabulous all year long, so why might this be? For one, the area’s 4th of July festivities are second to none.
The Night of The Event
Fireworks light up the Bay erupting from two separate locations: the Municipal Pier and the barge near Pier 39. The fireworks begin shortly after 9pm, and typically they last about thirty minutes. The pier is a crowded but fantastic place to witness the display while being surrounded by the energy and excitement of fellow festivalgoers. Additionally, if you call early, you just might be able to reserve an outdoor table at one of the nearby restaurants – just make sure to mention that you’ll need a seat with a sky view for the show!
An All-Day Celebration
While the fireworks display is the cherry on top, the Pier 39 Independence Day celebration lasts all day. This pier is located adjacent to one of the Bay Area’s favorite districts, Fisherman’s Wharf, which out-of-town guests are practically required to become acquainted with. Moreover, the pier hosts an all-day family-friendly festival. Live music fills the air, and visitors discover countless restaurants, shops, and, of course, the San Francisco Bay Aquarium. The pier is also known for its world-renowned gathering of adorable sea lions. Young children and adults alike find amusement in Magowan’s Infinite Mirror Maze, the musical stairs located in Building O, the pier’s historic and colorful carousel, as well as the eccentric outdoor performers. Acrobats and jugglers are among the many entertainers.
Of course, despite being a family-friendly area, there’s plenty of more sophisticated adult-only activities available, as well. It’s hard to pass up a California wine tasting while soaking up the Sun Francisco sun, and the boutique shopping is some of the best in the area.
A Relaxing Ride Complete with Champagne Service
Unsurprisingly, many of the nearby streets are closed off to traffic due to the event, and parking is almost impossible. Public transit is always an option. However, because the holiday falls on a weekend in 2015, the BART is expected to be more crowded than ever.
If you ride with Nationwide Limousine Service, our professional drivers will be happy to navigate the hustle and bustle while you sit back and relax.
