Nations on the Bay: San Francisco Bay Opening Day

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on April 5, 2018

The waters are warming up, and that means that our City by the Bay will become host once again to the beautiful yachts, sailboats, and other sea craft that are owned and sailed by members of various boat and yacht clubs thought the Bay Area. To kick off the new year of nautical fun, the annual opening day of the boating season features plenty of good things to experience, whether or not you enjoy life on the high seas.

The Opening Day on the San Francisco Bay is being held this year on Sunday, April 22nd, and while those who own boats will be celebrating by launching their variously sized crafts onto the water and around the bay, those of us with a little less disposable income can still enjoy the experience by watching the events as they unfold.

Members of the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association, an umbrella organization that includes over 100 different yacht clubs throughout the Northern California area, have decided that the theme for this year’s event will be Nations on the Bay. A marvelous gesture at the diversity of our city and its inhabitants, the Nations on the Bay event will culminate in a large boat parade that will allow you to travel throughout oceanic time as your eyes take in the sights of historical maritime machines as they make their way throughout the bay. Styles of boats included in this memorable event will include:

  • Fireboats
  • Powerboats
  • Sailboats
  • Workboats
  • Tugboats
  • Tow Boats
  • Even more boats!

If you like boats, then you will not want to miss the 2018 opening day on the bay event and parade, and while you can most certainly enjoy the scenery from shore, there is no better way to absorb the atmosphere of the day than by climbing aboard the Fume Blanc, an exquisite vessel that is the flagship for the 101st Annual Opening Day Cruise! All of the major members of the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association will be aboard this beautiful floating creature, and ticket holders aboard will not only have the chance to hobnob with the sailors but will also experience a full sit-down lunch and unbeatable seats to the boat parade.

Tickets for the Fume Blanc are currently priced at $85 for adults and $40 for children between the ages of 2 and 12. A continental breakfast is also included in the price.
