Muscles Galore at the San Jose FitExpo
Bodybuilding. 40 years ago, it was an oddity. 20 years ago, an amusing thing for people like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Today? An obsession, a lifestyle, a path to happiness for millions of people across the globe. It helps that the designation of “bodybuilding” no longer just applies to those who put on pounds of rippling muscle. Now, while that pursuit certainly still applies to many within the bodybuilding community, there are much more people exploring alternative ways of getting—and keeping—in shape: from powerlifting to jiu-jitsu, the practice is so much more than thigh-sized biceps and bulging veins.
If you are a fitness enthusiast and happen to be in the Bay Area on July 21st and 22nd, there is a good chance that you will not want to remain absent from the FitExpo, which takes place in the cavernous San Jose Convention Center.
One of the primary attractions of the FitExpo at San Jose is the convention floor, where ticket holders can wander through isle after isle of booths selling the hottest, most cutting-edge products, protein powders, and gadgets both on demonstration and for sale. After you’ve had your fill of shopping, check out some of the many seminars by some of the top names in the fitness business! The Superstars of Bodybuilding Seminar will feature the likes of:
- Jay Cutler
- Danny Heister
- Oksana Grishina
- Skip La Cour
- Regan Grimes
- Guy Cisternino Jr.
Want more? How about a dodgeball competition where teams will compete in numerous tournaments such as 6v6 Co-ed, the men and women’s Fastest Throw competition, and the 3v3 foam tournament? This is not your high school gym class, so be prepared to hustle!
Finally, one of the main attractions of the San Jose FitExpo is The FitExpo’s BEST! competition. Do you feel as though your body might be one of the most well-toned in the entire Northern California area? If so, then you can compete in this event which culminates in the winner being crowned on stage before thousands of cheering admirers as well as receiving a hefty $300 cash prize! While this competition is strictly non-professional and informal, it still will grant its winner an obscene amount of bragging rights.
The expo’s cost is $25 for one day and $40 for both Saturday and Sunday.
