38th Annual San Rafael Holiday Parade & Winter Wonderland
San Rafael, one of the most charming towns within the Bay Area, will once again lure in revelers and merrymakers of all stripes for its annual Holiday Parade & Winter Wonderland! A month-long celebration of the holiday season, the Winter Wonderland itself lasts from the weekend of Thanksgiving until Christmas and features plenty of decorations, activities, shops, restaurants, and other delights that will satisfy even the most scrooge-like among us. The real fun, however, begins on November 24th, the day after Thanksgiving, when a parade and light show will kick off the Winter Wonderland.
Well known as one of the biggest Holiday Parades in northern California, the event includes a Holiday Marketplace where you can stock up on one-of-a-kind goodies for the people on your Christmas list (or even just grab some lovely items for yourself). Vendors include:
- Taha Jewelry
- LuLa Roe Michelle Martinez (a wholesaler and importer artist)
- Tropical Wood Expressions
- Tibet Collection
- June Stones
- Wooly Buns
- Celebration Toyz (handmade toys and games)
- Damsel in Defense
- Illistine’s Cochet Borique
Food vendors such as Endless Summer Sweets and Kona Ice of North Marin as well as the numerous restaurants and cafes already located in San Rafael’s downtown will be on site to ensure that your grumbling tummies get the nourishment they need to sustain a day of holiday cheer and celebration.
Other events sure to tickle your fancy including the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus with the Mayor of San Rafael for the official lighting of the Holiday Tree and a snow hill where kids 15 and younger can enjoy the chilly downward rush that only sledding can provide.
The San Rafael Holiday Parade and Winter Wonderland will culminate, as you may have guessed, with a parade. Beginning at 5:30pm, the parade will include members of the various Marin County 4-H clubs, Peter Levi Plumbing, the Dance with Sherry Studio, Outer Rim Brigade, Luis on Stilts, and the fantastic Ghilotti Brothers. The parade will make its way through San Rafael’s picturesque downtown where the crazy cast of characters will light the aforementioned Holiday Tree.
