Cheap Laughs at the San Francisco Spring Pop-Up Comedy Festival
If you’ve looked at any event calendars over the past couple years, chances are good that you’ve seen the term “pop-up” applied to almost everything. Pop-up restaurants, pop-up art fairs, pop-up boutique stores, pop-up desert events, and pop-up fashion shows. Pop-ups are clearly something that lies at the center of the cultural imagination. For those who may not know, a pop-up is an event or a shop that “pops up” at a fixed location for a fixed amount of time before ceasing to exist. Obviously, this loosely defined event can become almost anything, which is why it should come as no surprise that San Francisco will soon have a pop-up comedy club.
Produced by HellaFunny and Funcheap, the San Francisco Spring Pop-Up Comedy Festival will see the Neck of the Woods venue transformed into a unique comedy space where, for the space of single weekend, ticket holders will have the chance to see some of the city’s best comedians perform new material.
One of the most exciting aspects of this production is its cost: free. As long as you RSVP beforehand, the event will cost you nothing at all. For those who prefer to simply show up at the door, a modest $10 charge awaits you. Regardless, the price is hard to beat, especially considering the level of talent that will be on display at the event.
Taking place over the weekend of March 20th to 21st, the spring comedy pop-up will feature performers who have been featured on popular television shows on networks such as Viceland, MTV, Netflix, and NBC. Some of the comedians have also appeared at places such as Cobb’s, Clusterfest, and SF Sketchfest. In other words, these people are professionals who have been working within the industry for quite some time and know how to make you laugh.
Each night of the weekend will feature two separate shows. One beginning at 8pm, the other at 10pm. Out of consideration for the space where the event will be held, only 200 tickets are available, so don’t wait any longer! If you want to see free, amazing comedy in the Bay Area this spring, the San Francisco Spring Pop-Up Comedy Festival is the place for you.
