RSSArt Night Kick-Off in San Francisco
Art and San Francisco go together like ketchup and hotdogs. For art lovers looking for a fix, there are the obvious places like the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and SFMoMA, and then there are the scads of galleries that are impossible to avoid (and why would you want to?) as well as the numerous festivals, parties, and celebrations that are art centered. One can never have too much of a thing this good, and so it is to our delight that this year there is a new event that will be bringing together all varieties of artistic endeavor. On Friday, July 29th, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at the UN Plaza (at the intersection of Market and Hyde Streets), Art Night will be kicking off its first ever season.
Designed with a focus on invigorating open-to-the-public spaces (like the UN Plaza), Art Night is an outdoor art party that focuses on installations of contemporary art that are available to be explored and examined, breaking down the traditional barrier between the art and the observer. As well as the exhibits, Art Night attendees will also have access to:
- Scads of food trucks from the Bay Area
- The famous Barbary Coast Cocktails
- Live music
- A karaoke battle
- Family-safe events (face painting, bubble balls, photo booth with a green screen)
Geared towards bringing art to the people, Art Night is a convergence of some of the most innovative and exciting artists working in San Francisco today with some of the many museums, galleries, and non-profit art programs that pepper the city. It is also a perfect chance to gather family and friends together and spend a memorable evening eating delicious food, sipping delicious drinks, and taking in the permitting atmosphere of creativity and artistic exploration that Art Night promises to carry on its back.
This is only the first of four Art Nights that are to take place in San Francisco throughout the late summer and early fall. As well as the kick-off, there will also be events on the 30th of September and the 14th and 28th of October.
