Man Steals and Crashes Limousine With Passengers Inside

Some limousine guests in upstate New York received a more thrilling limousine experience than expected when their limo was stolen and driven by a car thief while they were still inside. Police in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., say that 22-year-old Tyler S. Bellick faces a variety of charges in connection with the incident, including felony counts of grand larceny, driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Police say that the limousine was idling outside Saratoga Casino & Raceway when Bellick jumped into the chauffeur’s seat and drove away while passengers were relaxing in the cabin. Details about the theft and subsequent crash are sketchy, but police say that Bellick crashed the limo a short distance from where it was stolen. It is unknown whether any of the guests in the back were injured in the accident, but early reports suggest that they would have suffered minor injuries, given the damage the limo sustained in the crash. Bellick was also cited for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, a requirement due to a previous DWI conviction. He was arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail, where he is being held for lack of bail.
