Part of Contra Costa County, Brentwood, CA, is located in the east San Francisco Bay Area, and has a population of about 27,000 people. History of Brentwood
Brentwood, CA, was settled in 1835, when land that is currently known as Los Meganos Rancho was purchased by Dr. John Marsh. It was developed as immigrants migrated to the area. Schools were built, including the Liberty School, Brentwood’s first one-room schoolhouse. The first official business, a mercantile, was established in 1874, and the town continued to expand, eventually incorporating in 1948. Currently, Brentwood is known for the you-pick orchards in the area, as well as the growing commerce.
Los Vaqueros Reservoir
One of the great places to visit in Brentwood is the Los Vaqueros Reservoir. This watershed is just the place for anyone who loves spending time outdoors. Located in the Contra Costa Water District, the Los Vaqueros Reservoir offers a multitude of activities for everyone in the family. The protected watershed environment is settled on almost 20,000 acres of land. If you like to fish, the reservoir is stocked with game fish such as rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon. There is also hiking, horseback riding trails, and biking, as well as picnic areas and vendors where hot food and snacks are available. There are electric boats for rent at the marina, but there is no swimming or other body-contact water sports allowed, as the watershed provides water for almost 550,000 people.
John Marsh House
A local landmark, the John Marsh House, is the restored and preserved home of the founder of Brentwood, John Marsh. While the house and park are currently under construction and not open to the public, it will eventually be a state park with tours and facilities for the public to enjoy.

Brentwood CornFest
Every year, Brentwood, CA, has the biggest event of the city when the CornFest begins and lasts for three days, usually a weekend in a July. The Brentwood CornFest offers a car show, music, stages, food vendors, arts, crafts, information, carnival rides, a petting zoo, tractor races and fireworks.
