Upcoming San Francisco Comedy Shows

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on November 9, 2015

Known for his autobiographical humor, David Sedaris specializes in poignant comedy that is often pulled from his unconventional childhood in the suburbs of Raleigh, North Carolina, his Greek heritage, his varying stream of jobs, and his move to Europe with his partner. His most recent book, ‎Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls forms the focus of his current tour, which hits San Francisco for one night only on November 16th. His comic debut was in 1992, when he recounted his true-life account of being a Macy’s elf in his piece, "Santaland Diaries" on NPR’s Morning Edition. His witty observations of the ordinary-bizarre have kept audiences in fits of laughter ever since.

Prior to stepping down as the host of the Emmy-nominated, Peabody Award-winning, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Glasgow-born Ferguson set all-time viewer records with the show in the nine years he was on air. Now a huge success on the North American comedy circuit, Ferguson sold out both Carnegie Hall in 2010 and Radio City Music Hall in 2012, and has three widely acclaimed stand-up comedy specials: A Wee Bit O’ Revolution, Does This Need To Be Said?, and his most recent release I’m Here to Help, which garnered him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album in 2014. He’s hitting the stage at Fox Theatre in Redwood City on December 9th, with his latest tour The New Deal, a show which has received non-stop 5-star reviews from critics and audience members alike.

Known to appear on stage with a stool, a microphone, and a can of Diet Pepsi, Paula Poundstone is famous for her razor-sharp wit, spontaneously interacting with the crowd, and never doing the same act twice. Paula hit the road when she was nineteen, traveling on a Greyhound bus across the country and stopping in at open mic nights at comedy clubs as she went. After much success in the Boston Comedy scene, she won the American Comedy Award for "Best Female Stand-Up Comic" in 1989. The following year, she landed in Los Angeles and starred in several comedy specials for HBO, as well as appeared on Saturday Night Live when friend and mentor Robin Williams hosted the show. Paula’s first one-hour HBO special, Cats, Cops, and Stuff made her the first woman to ever receive the Cable ACE Award for best standup comedy special. Don’t miss her stop in San Francisco on New Year’s Eve.
