The Bard Comes to the Bay

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on August 31, 2015

Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s classic plays. It’s a story of the love that binds a young man and young women together, but two families that are content on keeping them apart. The play, like most of Shakespeare, is a tragedy.

Throughout September, the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is showing a production of the play at the various locations across the Bay Area. The Presidio’s Main Post Parade Ground Lawn (between Graham St & Keyes Aveis) is holding the production on Aug. 29, 30 and Sept. 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13. It’s also being held at McLaren Park’s Jerry Garcia Amphitheater (40 John F. Shelley Dr.) on Sept. 19, 20, 26 and 27.

The production features Lauren Spencer, a mainstay of the San Francisco theater scene, as Juliet and Carl Holvick as her love interest, Romeo. The production is a modern adaptation of the classic but still brings a life and vitality to the material.

This is the 33rd year that the theater company has offered free plays to the public. Before playing in San Francisco, the production was held in Cupertino, Redwood City and Pleasanton and received positive reviews. It is run by a non-profit, and the actors are paid through the generous donations of others.

Romeo and Juliet is the perfect event for an afternoon with a loved one or friends. The play starts at 2 p.m. and lasts a couple hours. The day could begin with a late lunch in the park or an early dinner after the play. It’s not uncommon for people to bring snack and wine to the play.

But McLaren Park and Presidio’s Main Post Parade Ground Lawn are both difficult locations to access and parking can be a challenge. The plays often attract hundreds if not over 1,000 people. A limousine or chauffeured car is the perfect way to attend the play. You don’t have to worry about anything. A driver will pick you up and drop you off right in front of the amphitheater. That driver will be waiting when the event ends. It’s the perfect way to complement a day of culture.

We hope you’ll allow Nationwide Limousine Service to chauffeur you. Whether you’re looking for a luxury stretch limousine, you seek the comforts of a modern tour bus, or you’d prefer an antique auto for hire, NLS Limo would be honored to take you and yours to one of our favorite fine art venues.
