Spring is finally here, so we’ve compiled a list of Springtime festivals and events to enjoy in San Francisco, and the surrounding Bay Area.
Rock n’ Roll ½ Marathon
The Transamerica Rock n’ Roll ½ Marathon will be held on March 29th, 2015 starting at the Great Highway and Fulton St. and ending at the Civic Center Plaza. The event will begin at 6:30 AM and all participants are expected to be at the Golden Gate Bridge by 7:45 AM. Participants will need to have a valid photo ID and race numbers to qualify. Registration can be done online or by mail for a $15 green fee.
24th Annual Easter Parade & Spring Celebration
Expect to be entertained at this 24th annual event featuring some of the area’s best musicians, large inflatable bounces, a petting zoo, a climbing wall, a pony ride, as well as costumed characters and hands-on children’s activities. The event will be held on Sunday, April 5th on Union and Gough streets to The Fillmore from 10:00 AM -–5:00 PM with the parade starting at 2:00 PM and the custom contest being held from 11:15 – 1:30.
Earth Day
The 45th Earth Day celebration will feature prominent speakers and activists from all around the world, as well as stages for live music, art, dance, and education. Speakers with a large variety of backgrounds will take the stage to address issues concerning our effect on the environment and what we can do to help. The event will be held on Saturday, April 18th on 22nd Street and will take place throughout most of the day.
How Weird Street Faire
The 16th annual How Weird Street Faire will feature ten dance music stages, the Art Alley on Tehama Street will offer live and exhibited artwork as well as interactive pieces, and food and concessions vending. The Faire costs $20 to enter and attendees will receive a “Magic Sticker” which gives access to a large variety of activities and discounts at the vendor’s stands found throughout the faire. This event will be held on April 26th for one day only from noon to 8 PM on Howard & 2nd Streets.
San Francisco Decorator Showcase
The San Francisco Decorator Showcase will feature the work of top interior and landscape designers as well as a silent auction presenting everything from fine wines to home furnishing to travel opportunities, with all items being donated by a wide variety of individuals and businesses. All proceeds to benefit the San Francisco University High School Financial Aid Program. The showcase will be open from April 25th through May 25th at 3630 Jackson Street.
