Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco

If you’re a runner, you know that the Bay Area is an ideal location for an athletic excursion, from a quick three-mile jog to an entire marathon. Perhaps most well known for their industry-leading athletic footwear, their Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco abides by the same standards of excellence.

This is said by many female runners to be the best race in the country although runners should train for our area’s infamous hills. Throughout the course, event staff members pass out nourishing eats such as Luna Bars and oranges. The energy of the crowd is unmatched. And, finally, firemen hand out gorgeous San Francisco-inspired Tiffany & Co. necklaces at the finish line! What’s not to like?

This race is so popular that participants are accepted through a random lottery. This being said, if you weren’t one of the 20,000 runners chosen for the October 18th, 2015, event, attend the race anyway. You’ll be cheering on your fellow runners who are racing money for a great cause – the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – and you can scope out the course for next year.

The one downside to this event is the traffic. The usually packed roadways are even more congested, and, of course, the city and event staff must close down certain streets in order for the event to take place.
