4th of July Celebration Options

The Fourth of July is fast approaching, and even though it is landing on a Wednesday this year (meaning that most of us are going to need to trudge back to our jobs almost immediately after the smoke from the fireworks clears) there are plenty of ways for you and your loved ones to celebrate within the Bay Area.

Today, rather than tell you about just one 4th of July event, we are going to give you three wonderful options, each of which is bound to satiate your desire for pomp, circumstance, bursting bombs, and red glaring rockets.

First up, The San Francisco Symphony with Fireworks
Happening at the Shoreline Amphitheater (located at One Amphitheater Parkway in Mountain View), the symphonic celebration will be hosted by the one and only San Francisco Symphony, one of the world’s most renowned musical groups. This event takes place in the great outdoors and gives you plenty of room to gape at the fireworks even as the timpani rumbles before you. This year, the San Francisco Symphony will be conducted by Edwin Outwater, and he has selected a wide variety of symphonic music for you to enjoy: from StarWars to Leonard Bernstein to George Gershwin.

Next, Calistoga’s Star-Spangled Social
This event will take place at in the Bay Area town of Calistoga and will include numerous celebratory things like:

• A Parade
• A Carnival
• A massive fireworks presentation

Calistoga is proud to say that their 4th of July celebration has been running strong for over one-hundred years. Everything starts off at 11:00 in the morning, and runs all the way until dark, when the bright explosions begin rocking the night sky.

Admission to the Calistoga Star-Spangled Social is $15 for advance tickets and $20 for those bought at the door. Anyone under the age of 5 gets in for free.

Finally, we have the Celebration at the Pier
The easiest event to reach, the celebration will take place along the Embarcadero Pier 39 where the brilliant fireworks will compete with “Karl the Fog” for supremacy of the beautiful bay. While you’re there, take advantage of the numerous shopping and activity options available all along the pier. There’s even a cruise option for those wishing to see the firework display from the water!
