If you’re planning an outing to the world-renowned Golden Gate Park, why not plan that visit during a Sunday dance? Of course, people-watching is allowed, but why not join the fun? Lindy In The Park, also known as LitP, has become a Bay Area tradition. Dancers have been gathering every Sunday since 1996, and for the past decade, the regulars have been practicing a choreographed swing-out line, which they’d love to take the time to teach you!
So, get dolled up and grab your guy, or get gussied up and grab your gal, or head to the park solo to dance with a variety of friendly lindy hoppers. In fact, you can even come as you are – many dancers twirl and hop in jeans and a t-shirt.
Even if you’ve never danced in your life, this event is still for you. Free beginner lessons are held from noon until 12:30 every week. So, pin up those victory curls or push back that pompadour …either literally or figuratively speaking. From 1930’s and 1940’s Big Band to contemporary quartet tunes, you’ll enjoy music of a variety of eras and at a vast range of tempos, making this weekly event fun for everyone.
