Immersive Pop-Up Dinner in San Francisco

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on July 8, 2016

Our Bay Area blog has often devoted space to the Bay Area’s wealth of food options and gourmet eateries. Whether it is a walk along Fisherman’s Wharf or a late-night bite in the Tenderloin District, San Francisco’s foodie scene is thriving, and all you need to do is go out for a meal at one of the many award-winning restaurants in the area to understand why. This Friday, the 8th of June, several of San Francisco’s top chefs are joining forces to put on a special, multimedia food event. Centering around the rich heritage of Native Americans, Chef Caesare Assad and Chef Loretta Barrett Oden will be implementing various techniques endemic to Capay Valley and Native American cooking to present guests with a one-of-a-kind culinary experience.

Chef Barrett is a member of the Potawatomi tribe, and has had her cooking featured in Emmy award-winning TV shows such as “Seasoned with Spirit,” and she has made guest appearances on “Good Morning America,” “The Today Show,” and “Cooking Live.” Her expertise has received ample documentation in locations like the New York Times, Food Arts, National Geographic Traveler, and Prevention Magazine. She will be performing a guiding role in the event, which is hosted by the reputable Farm to Fork group, and Chef Assad will be the main artist behind the evenings edible delights.

Chef Assad considers Chef Oden as her mentor, and this mentorship has served Chef Assad very well. For over 15 years, she has practiced her craft in the role of executive chef, program director, and general manager. Her strong belief in ensuring that good food is affordable for all people has led her many places in her career, the Capay Valley Pop-Up event being the most recent.

This event, which runs from 7-9 p.m. on Friday night, costs $120, a price that gives you a food and wine pairing as well as a front row seat to a multimedia storytelling event which promises to educate all attendees on the individuals and cultures behind the food exciting your taste buds. The event takes place at The Village, which is located at 969 Market St., in San Francisco proper.
