San Francisco’s Now Panhandle Festival 2015

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on November 2, 2015

Twice a year, the neighborhoods around San Francisco’s Panhandle host the Now Festival, a series of free community events from October 28th until November 3rd. The neighborhood-wide projects have included things like acoustic jam sessions, free yoga workshops, book talks, silent discos, cookie swaps, and much more.

Admission to most events is free, but some may ask for donations or small entry fees.

Each day of the festival hosts a myriad of events, including:

  • October 30th – Includes projects such as Free Flower Friday, where donated flowers are handed out to strangers and the Spooky Silent Disco, a silent disco that kicks off as the clock turns to midnight on the spookiest day of the year.
  • October 31st – Kicks off with Halloween Costume Yoga, an outdoor yoga event that encourages stretchy costumes, a Halloween Bash Triathlon, free lunch in the park, a bike ride around the panhandle, and concludes with the Dance-O-Ween 2k15: Trick or Street, a spooky roving dance party that includes a haunted bus and karaoke.
  • November 1st – The Panhandle Silent Disco, a live music dance party featuring Great Highway and more, the Bluegrass Jam, which invited guests to bring and play their own stringed instruments, Hot Dog Day, a small art gallery filled with strange and unique art projects that includes free hot dogs, and the third Now fest Kubb Mini-Tournament, a Viking lawn game that flourished in San Francisco.
  • November 2nd – Includes a DIY MBA Degree Workshop, where visitors can learn business skills and create their own MBA program, Chalk the Panhandle: Election Edition Slogan Making, an opportunity to get the word out with your favorite candidate’s and cause’s slogans, and a tetherball match on Baker St.

The last day of the festival will feature an election party for Amy Weiss, 2015 mayor of San Francisco hopeful, including a silent disco with DJs Stefan Aronsen and Gingerkat, as well as live musical performances by Equipto and others.

The Now Festival is and has been a huge celebration of art, culture, and good old fashioned fun. This year’s festival keeps to that tradition with a plethora of projects and events that can’t be missed.
